2025 Vernon County National Night Out Event Photos

SETTING UP FOR VERNON COUNTY NATIONAL NIGHT OUT!
It was awesome to see so many come out to Vernon County Night Out! There were so many people involved for an entire day of setup. All of the vendor booths that came out to support public safety and make this event a huge part of our community are awesome. A huge shout out to all of the volunteers as well. So many people came together for a full day of support, in addition to taking things down the day after the event. Here are some of the photos I snapped for the setup process!

Hello, Vernon County and surrounding area!

Vernon County National Night Out is next week (AUGUST 5th). If you are looking to meet your local first responders and see what they do in our community, be sure to come out. Here is a video of some footage we took at last year's event. Earthship Media's main motto is to capture the moments that create connections through media and video.

Come out to show your support for our very own local heroes, check out the family fun, and grab some free food. This event is made possible through the support of our local businesses and the people of our community.

It was great to document some of our small-town community at this year's 93rd annual event with The Viola, WI Horse and C**t Show. You may have seen me around with the camera, capturing various venues. Stay tuned, as I will be putting out more content as I work through the footage. Here is the entire Parade. I added music, so it also works as a great background sound.

Earthship Media filmed this year's 2024 9/11 tribute at the Vernon County Fair. At this event, you are hosted by the current Vernon County Fairest of the Fair, Hailey Nerison, and hear stories from Natalie Solverson, who served as Fairest of the Fair during the September 11, 2001 attacks. The National Anthem was sung by Ashley Erlandson. We also heard from the Viroqua Fire Dept. Fire Chief Chad Buros. The event also presented a cover song by Michael W. Smith. The Vernon County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard performed a flag-folding ceremony. Thanks to all of our first responders who were able to attend. Your presence helped remind us of the work you do!

September 11, 2001, holds meaning for many across the nation. At that time, I was serving on Active Duty in the Army while stationed in South Korea. I remember watching live television coverage late in the evening when the planes hit. Fast-forward to now, where I operate Earthship Media to promote peace and the connections between people through video and media. I am looking for suitable projects to take on that build up our community. Let's get out there and create connections!

Here is a video from last April, when Driftless Books And Music had the talented Greg Brown perform a reading and discuss his new book, Ring Around the Moon. This video has been edited for some time, and I just wanted to finally get it published, so I decided to share it on my community Earthship Media YouTube. I hope this support to small-town life helps people connect. It was great to hear Greg's stories and also fantastic to support one of the finest local bookstores in the nation! This film project dates back to April 2024. The plan was to upload it to Eddy's YouTube, but we didn't link up to make it work, so I wanted to get it out here. This film project came up at the very last minute, and as I have experienced in the past, I will only use house audio for video recording if there is a way to pull a mix, and the wireless system works well. Believe it or not, this was captured on a Rode VideoMic Pro+ from about 30 feet away besides the two side cameras I set up. From now on, I will focus on live, single-camera coverage of events. It is easier to capture highlights this way.

Lafarge, WI—A community came together in LaFarge, Wisconsin, to gain an understanding of the Gaza conflict. The event, hosted by Bob Goonin and Muhammad Kharbush, highlighted their experience and historical context with the forced displacement, violence, and the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinians in the Gaza region.

Kharbush, A Palestinian who grew up as a refugee in Lebanon, recounted his family's flight from Palestine in 1948. He described the trauma of displacement, the struggles of living in a refugee camp, and the history of how his family came to live on a farm in Wonewoc, Wisconsin. Despite these hardships, Kharbush pursued education and eventually immigrated to the United States.

Goonin, a local Lafarge resident and Jew, provided historical context for the Palestinian conflict. He emphasized the role of the Israeli occupation and limited access to resources in perpetuating Palestinians' suffering. Goonin has advocated for peace and Palestinian rights for many years. In 2019, he visited Palestine and consulted farmers about land, water, and energy issues, as he had experience working at Organic Valley and as a founder of Bring It Home Biofuels Cooperative.

The organizers expressed hope that the event would raise awareness of the plight of the Palestinian people and encourage greater support for peace and a change in U.S. policy toward the conflict.

Come and check out Vernon County National Night Out on August 6th, 2024 at the Vernon County Fairgrounds in Viroqua, WI from 5-9pm.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, and a more caring place to live. It enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.
