The Richland Center's Rotary Lights are still going on through New Year's Eve. The event is hosted by the Rotary Club of Richland County. This local event is a tradition that has been taking place for over 15 years, bringing joy to the community.

Filming this event is being launched as a project by Earthship Media called DriftTV, where we want to reduce the barriers to sharing community culture with the hopes of eventually crowdfunding these projects as a local source of short-documentary journalism in our area.

Earthship Media made it out in the cold to capture the historic demolition of the Black Hawk Bridge. The bridge was a cultural icon that stood over the Mississippi River for 94 years.

It was filmed using the Nikon ZR camera at 200-500 mm at a distance of 1.38 miles south of the bridge. This video showcases several clips from different camera angles, both in real time and in slow motion. The video was color-graded creating the nostalgic, iconic feel of this significant local event.

I filmed the keynote Veterans Day speaker at the Kickapoo Area Schools on November 11th. As a retired military veteran, I was interested to hear Mr. Leonard Frye speak about his experience in Vietnam. It was a bit bouncy up on the stage where I was, and my audio cable came loose when I was making some adjustments to my tripod, but I captured the moment. It was also my first time filming with the new camera. Thank you, Mr. Frye, for your speech.

Indigenous Peoples' Day

Earthship Media stands in solidarity with the indigenous people of America. While we all come from many different paths in life, we are on land that holds spiritual and cultural significance for many. As I walk this earth, living on land that once belonged to the Ho-Chunk Nation people here in Wisconsin, I recognize that Earthship Media has a responsibility to honor and connect with the land and people who lived and currently live here. The past made us who we are; the future is what we can become. Our paths can lead to connection if we respect the land and people. Stewardship is our path forward.

2025 Vernon County National Night Out Event Photos

SETTING UP FOR VERNON COUNTY NATIONAL NIGHT OUT!
It was awesome to see so many come out to Vernon County Night Out! There were so many people involved for an entire day of setup. All of the vendor booths that came out to support public safety and make this event a huge part of our community are awesome. A huge shout out to all of the volunteers as well. So many people came together for a full day of support, in addition to taking things down the day after the event. Here are some of the photos I snapped for the setup process!

Hello, Vernon County and surrounding area!

Vernon County National Night Out is next week (AUGUST 5th). If you are looking to meet your local first responders and see what they do in our community, be sure to come out. Here is a video of some footage we took at last year's event. Earthship Media's main motto is to capture the moments that create connections through media and video.

Come out to show your support for our very own local heroes, check out the family fun, and grab some free food. This event is made possible through the support of our local businesses and the people of our community.

It was great to document some of our small-town community at this year's 93rd annual event with The Viola, WI Horse and C**t Show. You may have seen me around with the camera, capturing various venues. Stay tuned, as I will be putting out more content as I work through the footage. Here is the entire Parade. I added music, so it also works as a great background sound.
