Met up with on probably one of the windiest days of the year (see more on jettygirlsurfmag.com), but the silver lining is that the entire beach was basically deserted. She dives, does brutal open ocean paddles, and is quite simply one of the best young surfers I’ve ever seen, but what warmed my heart the most is that despite the ugly conditions out there, she just suited up, threw some wax on her board, and charged it. We all want perfect waves, of course, but I’ll always be a big fan of the go-out-no-matter what approach. 🌊 •

Love that every time we paddle out, something cool can happen. Our expectations were pretty low the other afternoon as it was breezy and cold outside with a terrible current. Liv being Liv, though, we’re pretty much going out no matter what and I cherish that in a surfer. Once on the other side of the pier, I jumped over four close-interval waves and Liv was already up and riding on the fifth one. I kinda blew the focus on it, largely out of excitement for the section lining up for Liv to hammer. When she rode out of this one, I knew we had been blessed with something special. 🔥🔥 • .surfboards
