Juveniles could be given a citation for violation of the bicycle statute, which is a fine of about $100, Howard said. Parents could also be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor which is a gross misdemeanor offense that could result in up to a $3,000, and/or up to one year in jail.

E-bike riders who continue to violate bicycle rules could be in for harsher penalties. That’s the message from local law enforcement and Waconia city officials following the city council meeting
