Kylie Damasin and her Minnesota Vixen football team accomplished something this summer that the Minnesota Vikings are still striving for after more than 60 years — a football championship. Damasin, a Waconia Middle School phy ed and health teacher, captained and played defensive end for the Vixen in their championship season.

The railroad used to run north of Waconia through many surrounding towns. That is now the Dakota Regional Trail used only for recreation. But at this year's Carver County Fair, there was a new railroad running through the Carver County Fairgrounds. It is called the Minnesota G Scale Railway, a model railroad that proved to be a popular attraction among fair goers.

New owners Kelly and Aaron Vanderwall say they have a fondness for good beers and the atmosphere of brew pubs. A few of their favorites are Dangerous Man, Back Channel Brewing, La Cervecería Brewery, a Mexican brewpub in Minneapolis — and Waconia Brewing Company (WBC).

Many favorite local beers and a favorite taphouse gathering spot will return when Waconia Brewing Company reopens later this summer.
