American Experience states, “In 1920, Native Americans weren’t allowed to be United States citizens, so the federal amendment did not give them the right to vote. The first generation of white suffragists had studied Native communities to learn from a model of government that included women as equal democratic actors. But the suffragists did not advocate for indigenous women”
That is so weird that the United States claim that the original people of this land, especially women, were not given the right to vote. To this day, many Indigenous people will not vote as their homes are on sovereign land or they do not give up their Native identity with a USA citizen voting card.
