Last call for candidate endorsement letters
The deadline to submit Letters to the Editor in support of candidates running for office in the April 8 Town Election is Monday, March 24.
All candidates may submit up to three letters to our Letters to the Editor section if they want to speak about their position on various issues facing the town. Supporters of candidates may also submit Letters to the Editor. We have no limit on the number of letters submitted in support of candidates.
To ensure that we treat everyone fairly, we have deadlines for submissions. All Letters to the Editor in support of candidates or letters written by the candidates themselves must be submitted to us no later than 12 p.m. on Monday, March 24 for publication in the Wednesday, March 26 issue of the Lynnfield Villager.
The Villager will not be publishing any letters about the Town Election in the Wednesday, April 2 edition. However, the newspaper will be publishing candidate’s statements in the April 2 edition.
A candidate’s statement is a biographical piece about office hopefuls, along with a photograph and their reasons for seeking elective office. It can be of any length the candidate deems necessary. However, if we feel it’s too long, we will edit it for space. Candidate’s statements will be published together in the Wednesday, April 2 edition, which is the last edition prior to the election. The deadline to submit candidate’s statements is Friday, March 28.
All letters and candidate statements can be submitted to the Lynnfield Villager either by email at [email protected] or U.S. mail c/o Lynnfield Villager, ATTN: Editor, 26 Albion St., Wakefield, MA 01880. Electronic Word documents are preferred to prevent the need to retype your work and to minimize the chance of error.
And as previously mentioned, the newspaper plays by an entirely different set of rules than social media. The discourse in everything submitted to us needs to be civil and respectful. Expressing disagreement with the positions taken by others is fine, but vitriol and nasty rhetoric can be spewed someplace else.
Good luck to all the candidates who are willing to volunteer their time to serve our community.
