***NO TRASH/RECYCLING COLLECTION IN NORTH READING ON TUESDAY***

The town’s contracted trash/recycling hauler, Republic Services, informed the town at 10 p.m. Monday, June 30 that its employees will go on strike, therefore there will be no trash or recycling collection in North Reading on Tuesday, July 1. Residents on the Tuesday collection route are asked to not put their trash/recycling out on Tuesday morning.

The town is in contact with Republic Services and has been informed that the company has contingency staffing plans in place. More information about the upcoming collection schedule will be communicated on Tuesday.

The town is not a party to the negotiations, but continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as information becomes available.

North Reading is one of 17 communities affected by the strike. The town thanks all residents for their patience and understanding.

The E E Little School Drama Club’s production of “Alice in Wonderland Jr.” directed by Chris Tatro was a hit! The cast of 60-plus fourth and fifth graders played to two packed audiences at the high school’s Performing Arts Center last June 13 and 14 and enjoyed a glittery ending during the rounds of applause.
