Attention Charles County Residents!

This is your opportunity to learn more about data centers and share input. This meeting will be recorded and shared on the county's website for those who are unable to attend.

County leaders will explain what data centers are, how they impact infrastructure and the economy, and what it could mean for our community.

Please share the Data Centers Overview Engage project page, which includes an online survey for stakeholders to share their thoughts about data centers in our community.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?
All residents in Charles County are encouraged to participate in this project. Specifically, the county would appreciate feedback from residents who are:

*Business owners and developers
*Educators
*Leaders and/or members of community-based organizations (neighborhood associations, environmental groups, etc.)
*Young adults and students
*Seniors
*Renters or prospective first-time home buyers

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
This project is important because the demand for data centers has grown significantly, which has caused the data center industry to seek new locations to support this growth - including potential locations in Charles County. We are inviting residents, businesses, and stakeholders to engage with us and learn what data centers could mean for Charles County to help take part in informed discussions about this industry.

WHAT IS THE PROJECT?
Data centers are becoming an increasingly important part of the modern economy, and Charles County is evaluating their potential role in our community. We are aware of growing developer interest in possible locations for data centers in Charles County and while this use could be considered under our current zoning, it has not been clearly defined, and no development plans have been submitted at this time. County staff is reviewing how to formally define data centers in the zoning code and establish appropriate guardrails to regulate this emerging industry.
