FOODSTOCK TURNS 10 (or 11)!
This year marks the 10th Foodstock event in Dayton—would’ve been the 11th, except for Covid causing a one-year hiatus. The idea for Foodstock originated in 2015 with Regina Weldert, former owner of Rey’s Roast Coffee at Blue Mountain Station.
“At the time I was looking to make my business more successful, and one needs customers,” Regina says. “So the concept resulted from brainstorming ideas for creating more traffic at Blue Mountain Station."
Regina recalls the first Foodstock as probably being her favorite.
“I participated more that year—the fruits of my labor, I suppose. But I missed so much of the action as I was in my space serving coffee. I do remember it was a good time!”
The event has changed over the years. “We started it as a thrown-together, haphazard event. Now it’s more professional with better preparation—a family event with the water slide being a draw for the kids. And higher quality music with better sound and stage, better seating, etc.,” Regina says.
It’s been rewarding to see the event grow, she says.
“I love going to the Station and seeing all the cars parked in the church parking lot. I love the sound of the band playing, children laughing, and people visiting with one another,” she says.
“Sometimes the spirit of Woodstock lingers when our community gets together for an afternoon of entertainment and relaxation. That, to me, is what makes Blue Mountain Station what it is—community.”
Come and join the fun this year! If you happen to see or meet Regina, be sure to let her know what the event has meant to you.
Foodstock 2025 is this Saturday, July 19, from 10a to 3p at Blue Mountain Station, 700 Artisan Way, Dayton, WA. We’ll have food, drinks, live music and plenty of family fun. For more details, visit https://bluemountainstation.com.
