The Duplin County Partnership for Children is requesting public assistance following a fire that destroyed its building on Dec. 29.
To help continue services for local families, the organization is seeking donations of diapers, wipes, and gently used children’s books.
Donations may be dropped off at any of the following locations:

The Duplin County’s Animal Shelter is facing a $1,700 civil penalty after a state inspection found serious violations, including lack of water for animals, poor supervision, and incomplete euthanasia records. Additional warnings were issued for safety and sanitation issues.
Continued violations could cost up to $5,000 per incident or even suspension.

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has issued a $1,700 civil penalty to Duplin County for violations at the Duplin County Animal Services Animal Shelter. The violations were identified during an inspection Nov. 17, by the department’s Animal Welfare Section. The pe

DCS issues weather update:
Duplin County Schools is monitoring weather conditions and said all afternoon activities will continue as scheduled today, Monday, Dec. 8, and will conclude by 7 p.m. Tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 9, schools will operate on a two-hour delay for students and staff. Officials emphasized that the safety of students and staff remains the top priority and said they will provide updates as needed.
