Breakdown Press are excited to present a newcomic by Mexican artist Apolo Cacho - an explosive new work for our continuing end times.

A group of friends, armoured by youth but numbed by the overload of the modern world, embark on a series of journeys, both outside and inside. From a depressed but hospitable dragon, to cities bustling with unearthly life, through ecological collapse and rebirth, through the eruptions of new religions and old devils, this restless, unsettling comic brims with startling and unforgettable imagery. The electric sizzle of today rises with the heat haze of the past. The landscape rises up to swallow ruins, while the city looks on. The sun climbs higher in an unforgiving sky.

Apolo Cacho’s searing art and vibrant, energetic line make Gentrivacation one of the essential comics of 2025. A timely exploration of the tension between the past and the present, technology and nature, the body and the spirit. Gentrivaction is a virtuosic fable for tomorrow, and a wild ride that will embed itself into the reader’s imagination

Many thanks to editorial and Joe McCulloch for an extremely thoughtful and insightful review of Red Night by Hanawa Kazuichi translated by .

“The comics are gory, mean, exciting — it fits. But there is a coloration to Hanawa’s work that resists categorization, a sensation Red Night evokes without spelling out what it is or how it works. There remains a rare mystery.”

Breakdown Press is proud to present a new, updated edition of Dougal Dixon’s lavishly illustrated work of speculative zoology, The New Dinosaurs.

Here, the meteorite missed. There was no cataclysmic impact on the Earth 65 million years ago, and the great reptiles of the Mesozoic lived on.

Thus begins a beguiling voyage of evolutionary discovery encompassing both geology and palaeontology, as scientist and father of speculative evolution, Dougal Dixon, takes the reader on a journey around a strange new world where the dinosaurs have spread into every corner of the globe. Dixon’s remarkable vision of the creatures that could have evolved to live on is both awe-inspiring and educational. Learn about the dangerous Northclaws, track gargantuan flightless Trombles across bleak tundra, meet the cunning Springe of the swamps and marvel at the lightning fast Sprintosaurs!

Dougal Dixon’s potent blend of up-to-date science and inventive fantasy, given life by superbly detailed colour illustrations, has produced a highly convincing alternative zoology and a wonderful, modern array of New Dinosaurs.

We’d really like it if you signed up to our mailing list. We don’t send them out too often and try and make them as concise and useful as possible. Be first to hear about New books, Festivals, Parties and maybe some teasing morsels about forthcoming projects to get you salivating. Social media is an inescapable avenue of promotion for our books and the artists we publish but for obvious reasons can be quite grim, has its algorithmic limitations and could just disappear overnight. Mailing lists are a forever bond of ecstatic entanglement. Unless you unsubscribe of course, which you can do at any time. Find us here -

Public Service Announcement - we’re running low on Baby Boom. Get it while you can.

148 x 210mm — 184 pages — offset printed — softcover — ISBN 978-1-9110811-9-7

“Baby Boom is a book about how the world is a beautiful place, how living in it can be a very wonderful thing, and how the presence of others is what keeps happiness alive in us.” - Matt Seneca, The Comics Journal

Baby Boom is the latest in Breakdown Press’s line of English language editions of work by influential Japanese artist Yokoyama Yuichi.

Yokoyama’s comics are entirely unique: free from the traditional modes of narrative, his work explores motion, sound and structure, generating striking, beautifully graphic stories that propel the reader into a world of onomatopoeia, speed, and visual noise. Collecting 39 short pieces, each drawn with bright markers, Baby Boom uses polychromy in symbolic and rhythmic ways to create a musical, visually extraordinary experience.

With a cover design by Jean-Philippe Bretin, an essay by manga academic Ryan Holmberg, and an interview with Yokoyama himself, this new English language edition, masterfully printed using Pantone spot colours, brings together Yokoyama’s most ground-breaking work to date.

Baby Boom was printed by offset lithography at DeckersSnoeck in Belgium

Big Pool by (Chris Harnan) is an expansive, symphonic work in pictures. Reading Big Pool is a vision assault. Overwhelming and essential. Like drinking from a fire hose. From primordial soup to Mount Olympus. Or cradle to grave. Or five minutes lost online. Big Pool is a journey that will blast you into the other side and leave you wondering what you used to think pictures were all about anyway?

Chris Harnan’s restless art moves through several different techniques and approaches, one moment wild and expressive, another cold and precise. Big Pool explores the rhythms of complexity, guiding the reader compulsively through the pages so even the most abstract images take on a power and a poetics of their own. It’s a story written in the space between atoms, intertwined with all things, everywhere, always. It’s an experience like no other.

We’ll be announcing a special exhibition to launch the book over the coming
