Big ramen news for Walnut Creek…

Acclaimed Japanese ramen restaurant Mensho is coming to downtown Walnut Creek. Known for its “farm-to-bowl” approach and creative, high-quality ramen, Mensho has built a strong reputation across the Bay Area.

The new location is planned for 1512 N. Main Street (the former Essence space) and is expected to open in 2026.

With Mensho joining Marufuku Ramen (also planned) and longtime favorite Ramen Hiroshi, Walnut Creek is quickly becoming a go-to spot for ramen lovers.

🚨 New Restaurant Opening in Walnut Creek 🚨

North Italia is officially opening in Downtown Walnut Creek on March 25th 🍝

We had a chance to check out the soft opening, and it definitely lived up to the hype.

We started with drinks — the Roman Holiday and Just Peachy — both were excellent. For appetizers, the White Truffle Garlic Bread is a must-order.

For dinner, we tried “The Pig” pizza (loaded with pepperoni, calabrese, soppressata, and sausage) and the Braised Short Rib Marsala — both were standout dishes.

And for dessert, the Brookie Sundae was the perfect way to end the meal.

The space looks great, there’s plenty of outdoor seating, and the overall vibe is perfect for a night out in downtown Walnut Creek.

Overall, 10/10 — we’d definitely recommend checking it out.

We checked out the soft opening of North Italia in downtown Walnut Creek 👀🍝

First impressions… this place is going to be very popular.

We started with a couple drinks — the Roman Holiday and Just Peachy — both were refreshing and really well done 🍹

For an appetizer, we tried the white truffle garlic bread and it was easily a standout. Definitely a must-order.

For our mains, we went with The Pig Pizza and the braised short rib Marsala. Both were great, but the short rib really stole the show.

And of course, we had to finish with the Brookie Sundae 🍨🍫 — no regrets there.

Overall, a really solid experience and a great addition to downtown Walnut Creek.

Walnut Creek is getting a Kitava! The Bay Area’s popular clean-eating chain — known for gluten-free, dairy-free bowls and salads — is taking over the space on N. California Blvd that most recently housed The Little Pear, and before that, The Counter. They’re aiming for a late spring opening.

👀 SKIMS could be coming to Broadway Plaza.

A proposal currently under review by the City would bring a SKIMS retail store to the former Maker’s Market location at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek.

SKIMS is the shapewear and clothing brand founded by Kim Kardashian in 2019. The brand quickly became one of the fastest-growing apparel companies in the world, known for its inclusive sizing, comfortable basics, and viral products.

The proposed store would be located at 1275 Broadway Plaza (Suites D27 & D30) and is currently under Design Review by the City.

🍕 Doppio Zero is coming to Downtown Walnut Creek.

The popular Italian restaurant is set to open Spring 2026 in the space previously occupied by SanDai Nusantara — and before that, PRIMA Ristorante.

Expect Neapolitan-style pizza, fresh pasta, Negronis, and classic Italian dishes in a lively new gathering spot downtown.

The restaurant says Walnut Creek is just the beginning, with more openings planned later in 2026, but for now all eyes are on this one.

🚧 Demolition has begun at the Heather Farm Community Center as Walnut Creek moves forward with plans for a brand-new Aquatic and Community Center at Heather Farm Park.

The new facility will replace the aging buildings on the site where the former community center once stood. The project is being funded primarily through Measure O, the voter-approved 10-year half-cent sales tax passed by Walnut Creek residents.

Once complete, the new center will bring updated aquatic facilities and community spaces to one of the city’s most popular parks.

More updates to come as construction progresses. 👀

🍃 Gas-powered leaf blowers will be banned in Walnut Creek starting April 1, 2026.

The new city policy will prohibit residents, businesses, and landscapers from using gas-powered leaf blowers anywhere in Walnut Creek. Property owners will also be responsible for making sure their landscapers follow the rule.

The change is part of the City’s Sustainability Action Plan to reduce air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and noise in the community.

Electric blowers, rakes, and brooms will still be allowed.

🚗 A Porsche dealership may be coming to Walnut Creek.

A proposal currently under review by the City of Walnut Creek would redevelop the former Masses building site on N. Main Street into a brand-new Porsche dealership.

The project would demolish the existing buildings and merge three parcels to create a three-level dealership featuring a showroom, service center, offices, and vehicle inventory storage.

Plans show the showroom facing N. Main Street and 2nd Avenue, while the service area would be accessed from 2nd Avenue.

The proposal is still under review by the City, so no final approvals yet.

🐟 Oceania Fish Bar is coming to Downtown Walnut Creek.

The former Walnut Creek Yacht Club space at 1555 Bonanza St. is set to be transformed into Oceania Fish Bar, a new seafood-focused restaurant from the Ghaben family — longtime local restaurateurs behind concepts like Batch & Brine, Hotboys Chicken, Broderick Roadhouse, Lita, Hubcaps, and Original Mel’s.

Plans submitted to the City of Walnut Creek show a major redesign of the mid-century building, including: Expanded outdoor dining ~1,360 sq. ft. of additional ground floor space. A new second-floor office. A modern indoor-outdoor dining experience

The concept will center around a seafood-forward fish bar featuring a variety of cooking techniques.

Pending city approval, construction could begin next year with a projected opening around 2027.

🌮 Taco Bell Coming to Rossmoor Shopping Center

A new Taco Bell with a drive-thru will soon be built at 1998 Tice Valley Blvd. in Walnut Creek at the Rossmoor Shopping Center near Safeway and the Chevron station.

The project includes a restaurant, drive-thru service, an outdoor patio with a walk-up ordering window, new landscaping, and a new trash enclosure.

The Walnut Creek Planning Commission previously approved the project, and it is expected to move forward toward construction soon. The drive-thru and restaurant are planned to be open until midnight daily.

Some nearby residents raised concerns about traffic and noise during the approval process, while city commissioners said the restaurant would provide a convenient late-night option for the area.
