SPECIAL REPORT: THE JONES PLANTATION
βGive Them the Illusion of Choice & They'll Always Stay in Place.β
WAR-TOWN, GA β In a groundbreaking development for the plantation industry, local ownership has announced a revolutionary new approach to keeping the workforce obedient, productive, and blissfully unaware of its circumstances.
The shackles are gone, ladies and gentlemen! And business has never been better!
According to plantation management, the antiquated practice of physically restraining workers has become unnecessarily expensive, labor-intensive, and, frankly, terrible for public relations.
The solution?
Give the workers a choice!
Not a choice about who owns the plantation, mind you. Certainly not a choice about who profits from their labor, who writes the rules, or where the fruits of their productivity ultimately end up.
No, no, no! That would be positively barbaric!
Instead, plantation management has introduced a revolutionary system in which workers are periodically permitted to select which representative of the ownership class will oversee their continued exploitation.
And the results have been extraordinary!
Workers have reportedly begun lining up voluntarily to participate in the selection process, proudly displaying colorful stickers commemorating their involvement.
Some have even taken to arguing among themselves over which overseer will administer the plantation most effectively.
βIt's absolutely brilliant!β exclaimed one fictional plantation executive. βWe used to have to keep them in line. Now they keep EACH OTHER in line! And they thank us for the privilege!β
Perhaps most remarkably, management reports that the new system has virtually eliminated the need for physical restraints.
Instead, the plantation now operates on a sophisticated combination of manufactured consent, economic dependency, partisan rivalry, and the occasional complimentary sticker.
When asked whether workers would ever be permitted to vote on abolishing the plantation itself, management declined to comment.
However, representatives assured THE WAR-TOWN TIMES that the next selection cycle would feature exciting new candidates, fresh campaign slogans, and an expanded assortment of patriotic stickers.
Remember, folks: You don't have to own the chains when you can convince people to wear them voluntarily.
This has been Bunty Mills, reporting from the Jones Plantation, where freedom is always on the ballot, but ownership never is.
