Ovando. Montana. Population 83. A large town in comparison to others we passed through. The historic Blackfoot commercial store thats been around since 1897, the ovando inn, diner, and angler shop, and home to the non profit Blackfoot Challenge where I stoped in to have a chat and learn about all the things they do to preserve the rural way of living.
"The mission of the Blackfoot Challenge is to coordinate efforts to conserve and enhance natural resources and the rural way of life in the Blackfoot watershed for present and future generations"
They do an immense amout of work in the area putting fences up to protect live stock and protecting the land from housing developments who would most certainly turn montana into the suburbs.
