Good afternoon! Expect partly sunny skies today, with highs near 80° and dewpoints in the low to mid 60s. Winds will remain light staying under 10mph throughout the day. Tonight will consist of mostly cloudy skies, with lows falling into the 60s. A few showers may move through the area, mainly later in the night and into the early morning.

Sunday will consist of mostly cloudy skies, with highs in the low 80s. There will be isolated showers and thunderstorms that look to develop during the afternoon and continue into the evening.
Looking ahead, cooler temperatures will settle in with highs in the 60s and 70s, and rain chances expected to continue throughout the week.

Tropical Depression Six is now forming southwest of the Azores, with maximum sustained winds near 35 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1009 mb. The center is moving north at about 2 mph.

Over the next 24 to 36 hours, the depression is expected to generally move to the northeast. After that, it should turn toward the southwest in a couple of days. Slight strengthening is possible during the next 24 hours, but gradual weakening is expected afterward.

At this time, there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect, and the advisory notes no hazards affecting land. The next complete advisory is scheduled for 900 PM GMT.

Showers and thunderstorms are more concentrated near the center of a low pressure system several hundred miles southwest of the western Azores. Conditions are supporting development, and a short-lived tropical depression or tropical storm is expected to form later today or tonight as the system moves north-northeastward around 5 mph, staying well to the southwest of the Azores. Upper-level winds are expected to become less conducive for development beginning late Sunday, which should limit how long it can stay organized. The chance of formation is high at 90 percent through the next 48 hours and remains high at 90 percent through the next 7 days.

A new area of low pressure southwest of the Azores is becoming more organized, with showers and thunderstorms gradually consolidating and a more defined center starting to take shape. If that trend continues, a tropical depression could form as soon as later this afternoon. Over the next several days, the system is expected to move slowly while staying to the southwest of the Azores. The chance of formation is 60 percent through 48 hours and 60 percent through 7 days.

Happy Friday! Expect intervals of clouds and sun and predominantly dry conditions today as a slow-moving cold front pushes through the region. However, a few showers and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out, especially across Central Virginia. Highs will reach the mid-80s across the region, with dewpoints in the low 70s making for a warm and humid day. By this evening, however, dewpoints will begin to fall, bringing some relief from the humidity.
High pressure will settle into New England Friday night into Saturday, bringing partly sunny skies, lower humidity, and seasonable conditions to start the weekend. Clouds will increase Saturday night ahead of another cold front, bringing chances for showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. Have a great day!

Over the next couple of days, the environment could support some additional gradual development as the system moves slowly westward today, then possibly turns southward on Friday. Over the next 48 hours, the chance of formation is medium at 40 percent, and over the next 7 days it remains medium at 40 percent.

Happy Wednesday! Expect seasonably warm and dry conditions today, with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures reaching the mid to upper 80s. Dewpoints will remain in the 60s, keeping conditions more humid than over the past few days.
Precipitation chances will increase Thursday as a weak cold front approaches the region. Showers and thunderstorms will be largely focused west of U.S. 15, with the greatest coverage expected toward the Shenandoah Valley. Severe weather is not anticipated. High temperatures are forecast to climb back toward 90°F tomorrow.
By Friday, cooler conditions will return, with highs ranging from the upper 70s to mid-80s across the region. Behind the front, afternoon winds will become breezy, with gusts around 15–20 mph. Be sure to follow our page and have a great day!
