Enough Is Enough: A Call to Prayer and Action
PLEASE WATCH THE POWERFUL VIDEO POSTED BELOW!
CHICAGO — In the early hours of Saturday morning, tragedy struck the heart of our community. Just before 2:00 a.m., multiple individuals were shot near the corner of 78th and Throop — directly across from the St. Sabina School and steps away from the sanctuary of our beloved church.
Chicago Police were in the process of dispersing a large gathering when an unknown vehicle drove by and opened fire into the crowd. The suspect vehicle fled the scene, and no description has yet been provided.
This violence comes just weeks after our faith community joyfully celebrated the 50th anniversary of ministry for Father Michael Pfleger — a shepherd who has never turned away from the fight for justice. Narrated by the voice of Joseph Saunders, our story is one of resilience, resistance, and relentless advocacy, grounded in the gospel message of Matthew 28: “Go and make disciples of all nations…” — a message not of silence, but of action.
We grieve. But we are not defeated.
The Faith Community of Saint Sabina is more than a location — it is a sacred ground of hope, healing, and holy protest. We will continue to stand, to speak, and to serve.
We will celebrate our young people and walk with them through every passage of life. Yet, we are sobered by the reality that there are forces — violent, destructive, and demonic — working to interrupt their promise.
Let us say with one voice: Enough is enough.
We ask for your continued prayers — for our church, our streets, and our city. We lift up Joseph, Father Mike, and every soul within our faith community who carries this pain and presses on with purpose. We pray against the spirit of violence that attempts to steal life, joy, and peace — not only in Chicago, but in every city across the world.
We will not be moved.
Please keep the families of the victims and the victims in your prayers!
A $10,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest of the heartless individuals who did this. If you have any information, please call Chicago Police at 312-745-3610. If you dont want to call police, you can call St. Sabinas Church at 773-483-4800. Please share this post for awareness. Please see the comments for words from Father Michael Pfleger regarding this incident.
