1. Sound bad first — it’s part of the process Nobody starts out sounding like a pro. Early calls might be squeaky, awkward, or inconsistent. That’s not failure—that’s progress in disguise.
2. Consistency beats talent
A few minutes of practice every day will take you further than long, inconsistent sessions. Muscle memory is everything in calling.
3. Listen more than you call
Spend time listening to real ducks and geese. The goal isn’t to be loud—it’s to be natural.
4. Keep it simple
Beginners often try too many advanced calls too soon. Focus on:
• Basic quack (ducks)
• Honk (geese)
• Rhythm and timing
Master the basics, and the rest comes easier. Don’t let people discourage you.
There will always be someone better than you—and someone who forgets they were once a beginner too.
• Ignore the “you don’t sound good” comments
• Learn from helpful feedback, not negativity
