AITA for laughing and being relieved about the reason my son's been getting into trouble?

My youngest Danny is 14 and 7th and 8th grade was really hard on him. Me and his dad getting divorced, him coming out to us and some of our family being virulently h__ophobic. He had to quit wrestling and go on a psych hold for a while and being diagnosed as bulimic and bipolar.

The last two years were alot for him.. Only a month in and all of sudden he's getting into trouble.. He's coming home late and skipping classes.

He didn't show up for the last two football practices even though he begged us to let him play and I've smelled w**d and alcohol on his clothes sometimes when he comes home. I've been really scared lately that' hes going off the deep end again and we haven't wanted to push him. Thursday I got a call from my sister at the office that he skipped school with Darren some delinquent that he's been hanging out with.

I'd had enough so both me and his dad stayed up and waited outside till he got home late again. At around 12:00 am he comes rolling in on the back of some older kid's motorcycle. I was beyond pi**ed.

He jumped off at the driveway so we didn't meet his new 'friend' Darren who rode of quickly. We gave him a good talking to about how he's being acting and how stupid he was to be mixing his meds with alcohol. We of course asked about motorcycle boy and he told us Darrens 16 and a cool guy blushing hard and he was trying to impress him.

I told him he was grounded and that he didn't need to change himself to impress some boy. After he went in the house I felt really...

WIBTA if I divorce my wife because she does not want me actively involved in raising our children?

My wife (31f) and I (32m) have been together since college and we've been married for 7 years. We have three children together and I am sick of either having to step back and let her raise the kids almost as a single mom or fight with her because I did something with our children, even something as simple as feeding them. But that's where I'm at.

She wasn't like this when our oldest was born. It started when she was pregnant with our twins. She would always tell me to tidy or run some errands when I wanted to spend time with our child.

Then she'd keep him by her side the entire day or she'd go off somewhere if I said we should all spend the day together and focused on our oldest. But when the twins came it was worse. Every time I went to feed or change a baby she was telling me to go back to bed or to run to the store for something.

Whenever she caught me holding and doing anything with one of our kids it was like I was committing a crime. When I'd ask her what the issue was she said there was nothing but I should just make myself useful. Even if I was doing that.

One time she was delayed on the phone talking to her sister so I put our oldest to bed and got the twins fed. She freaked out and yelled at me for doing it without her. I told her it wasn't like I went off schedule and she was busy.

She said that wasn't the point. Then came the fights about me trying to be with the kids instead of working or running errands. When I took time...

AITAH for being upset that my husband won’t help me after surgery?

This. OP, make sure you have a good plan. Separate your money, and make sure he can't access yours (but don't take anything of his). Take your name off any bills you can (but keep paying them, and get receipts!). Contact a lawyer. Get your ducks in a row. Document, Document, DOCUMENT!! ANYTHING that shows his abusiveness toward you (or any other abusive or illicit themes)-texts, Facebook posts, emails, anything, print it all out. If you live in a one-party consent state, you can even download an app on your phone, and record your phone conversations. Try not to have any contact with him, once you leave. Tell him it all has to go through your lawyer. If he does contact you, try your best not to engage him, or argue with him, or feed into any anger or outbursts. Even if he threatens you, or himself (this latter is a common emotional manipulation tactic, don't fall for it!). Just put a smile in your voice and say as little as possible. It's hard to use those phone calls in court without recordings, but police reports will help. And so will anything else you've documented, and any receipts you've saved from paying joint bills. If he comes to your door, wherever you're staying, don't answer the door, and call the police. Get copies of any police reports. Get yourself into some counseling. And, maybe most importantly of all DON'T TELL HIM YOU'RE LEAVING! Don't tell him you're breaking up with him. Don't give him any chance to manipulate you into staying!! More than that, don't risk your safety!! Abusers will go to desperate, terrifying sometimes even violent, measures, to keep their victims under their control. Enlist a trusted friend or family member, wait til he's at work, or out with...

AITA for filing for divorce because my husband made me drive him to the hospital?

So.. I drove him. It took me 40 minutes to get there (it's 15 minutes away). And when we did get there, I dropped him at the entrance to the ER, parked, grabbed my daughter and started walking. He yelled from the door to ask what I was doing. I told him I'm leaving. He said "let me call my mom to come get you guys", I said "I'm not getting in the vehicle with you or her actually. Do not call her because I will not go with her." I started walking to the library (maybe a 1/4 mile, all side walks). Well, his mom shows up and stops beside me and says "get in". I told her no and made it clear that I had told him not to call her. She said "I said get in, you're being childish right now." So I kept walking, went to the library, called my mom and had her come get me and filed for divorce the same day. He was served the following morning. I'm being called every name under the sun by his mother because "he could have f__king died and you're more concerned with having to drive him to the hospital. You're selfish and don't deserve my son or his daughter. (She does know he was partying excessively but she's a 50s woman and says "well he was working and deserved the breaks"). AITA?

AITAH for breaking off ny marriage when my ex made out with another woman

My ex (28M) and I (26F) were soon to get married. Last week he told me about an incident which happened more than two years ago. He told me about him and his coworker who made out after we were exclusive in our relationship. He told me he wants to come clean and doesn't want to carry any guilt and start a new life with me. I was really heartbroken and didn't know what to do. I gathered myself and told him we are over and I can't marry someone who cheated on me. He mentioned this was early in the relationship and it only happened once and it was a mistake. We have been together for almost three years now and he called me selfish for ending things over something which happened so long ago.

I have no tolerance for cheating and so my instant reaction was breaking up. Its been a week now, his parents are calling me, texting me and asking what happened and why I broke their son's heart and this is all hurting me a lot. I don't wanna be with him but I miss him so much. I miss us. Am I throwing everything away for one mistake of his or did I make the right decision.

AITA for Refusing to Be My Sister’s Surrogate After Learning the Full Plan?

Here is the link to my previous post: [link]

So I promised an update tomorrow, but my dad actually ended up calling me while I was hanging out and told me to come over for dinner yesterday night so we could talk. I want to start by saying thank you so much for all the comments and advice, some of you were jerks to not only me, but my sister and boyfriend as well. I still appreciate the help. I didn’t even ask about what when my dad called, I figured he had spoken to Stacy. Based on comments I know you guys won’t be happy, but I spoke with my boyfriend about where his head was if I were to go forward with it. He told me that he loved me and would support me through any and everything, but he would not continue to sit by why my sister made me feel like trash and if I was doing this under coercion he would not be able to support me- which I honestly completely understand.

When we went over to my dad’s for dinner my sister and BIL were already there. I spoke to them both when we walked in but only my sister replied, my BIL gave me the most disgusting look and greeted my boyfriend only. My dad sat us down at the table and there was just this awkward silence and tension I could cut with a butcher knife. He said, “somebody talk, we need to get this resolved before the game tomorrow night.” My dad LOVES football lol. I started off the conversation by telling her that I did some research and atop of my initial concerns I now had a few more and needed to know exactly what she needed from...

AITAH for Refusing to Attend My Dad’s Wedding After Overhearing His Fiancée Talk S*t About Me and My Little Brother?

So this has been bothering me for a while, and I really need some perspective. I (26F) am supposed to go to my dad’s wedding next month. He’s getting married to his fiancée, “Lily” (40F), who I’ve been trying really hard to get along with for his sake. But there’s always been something off with her. I can’t explain it exactly, but the way she interacts with me and my little brother “Thomas” (23M) has always felt fake, like she’s putting on an act.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, I went over to my dad's for dinner with them. Everything seemed fine at first, but at one point my dad stepped outside to take a phone call. So it was just me and Lily in the house. I was in the other room when I overheard her talking on the phone to someone, and she was completely trashing me and Jake. I wasn’t eavesdropping, I swear—I just happened to hear it. She was saying things like, “I don’t get why he still wastes time on them, they’re both adults now. He needs to cut them loose and stop babying them. They’re just in the way.” She even said my dad would be “better off” without us in his life.

I was fuming. I didn’t know what to do at the moment, so I didn’t confront her, but as soon as my dad came back inside, I told him what I heard. And instead of being on my side, he brushed it off. He said something like, “Oh, I’m sure she didn’t mean it like that, you’re taking it too seriously. She’s just stressed with the wedding coming up.” He kept downplaying it, like I was overreacting and making a big deal out of nothing.

Now the wedding...

(Update) AITAH to ask my husband to block his female friend who warned him not to marry me?

I had posted almost 6 months ago regarding my husband's friend Kyla betting that our marriage would not last for more than 2 years. I was upset and had asked my husband to stop talking to her, because she disrespected our marriage. Since then, Kyla has pulled some really pathetic s__t to stir up issues between my husband and I. After I wrote the post, my husband was trying to convince me that Kyla's was just joking when she made those comments, and it happened so long ago. Kyla messaged me the next day apologizing me for her comments and also not making more efforts to connect with me. I accepted her apology and started warming up to her. She started inviting me for brunches and girls' night out with them and I felt included in their friend group.

One day during brunch, I brought up why Kyla really thought our marriage would not work out. Kyla told me that my husband broke up with his long-term ex-girlfriend Joanna 2 months before he started dating me. I knew that part, but Kyla told me that my husband was really heartbroken after the breakup and swore to her that he would stay away from dating anyone. When he met me (my mom set us up on a blind date), she was surprised how quickly we hit it off. Kyla thought that I was his rebound relationship, but when he proposed to me within a year, she was worried that he was making a very rash decision. My husband's family is rich, and she thought it was unwise for him to marry so quickly without knowing me well. She did not know enough about me and that my family is also very well-off. That is why she was concerned that I...

WIBTA for breaking up with my girlfriend and cutting off my friends because they ignored someone being harmed at a party?

Last weekend, my girlfriend [23F], friends, and I [22F] went to a party. I arrived later than the others. When I arrived, I found everyone gathered around a couch where a girl was on top of a guy and having s__ with him (I didn't recognize either of them). I turned to look at my girlfriend, and she giggled. I turned back to the couch and noticed that the guy's arm was hanging weirdly, and he didn't seem to be participating actively. I pulled the girl off the guy and checked on him. He was more or less unconscious and barely reacted to anything. I called 911 and told them what had happened. Several people were angry at me and tried to tell me not to call. My girlfriend and friends didn't say anything, as far as I remember. Police and an ambulance arrived. The paramedics took him to the hospital. He is physically okay now, but still very traumatized mentally.

When I confronted my girlfriend and friends about why they were just looking and giggling at someone being r***d instead of intervening, they said that they didn't realize what was happening. I said that it was obvious (because it really was). They said that it was probably only obvious to me because I was sober, that I shouldn't blame them because they were too drunk to notice, and that lots of other people were also watching without doing anything. I can't get the image of them standing there giggling and watching someone get r***d out of my mind. The fact that none of them seem to even feel guilty for not doing anything makes it even worse. They haven't said anything that makes me think they have any empathy for the guy or that they have thought about...

UPDATE. AITAH or telling my sister-in-law I will not.” dress modestly.” around her husband..

Hi everyone!

I accidentally deleted my og post last night but I will post the body of my original post in a comment below.

I want to say thank you all for your support and advice . Especially thank you for people who DMd me with their personal stories of abuse and church trauma. I’m so grateful for you sharing your stories.

To answer if you have any questions. I am very average looking, but by conventional standard. I have a nice body. I’m 5”6 and 120 pounds. Since I had my daughter, I’ve been going to Pilates three times a week. for the first time of my life have some abdominal muscle, which I’m very very proud of. I don’t mean this as a subtle brag!!!! I also put a good amount of effort into the way. I look such as doing my hair and make up and wearing well fitting clothes.

My sister-in-law is a very attractive woman. She is much taller than me. She has gained about 40 pounds since she had her kids. And I know that she feels a bit self-conscious about it, but she said she’s not willing to change. She said that she’s a mom so doesn’t matter what she looks like. I wonder if she’s having a bit of depression because she’s about how now she stays without even showering. Again, I’m not saying myself to my sister-in-law just trying to give a better picture.

So for the update,

To Make things clearer. I will refer to my husband as Tom and myself is Kate. I referred to my sister-in-law Jill, and my brother-in-law as Jack.

My husband showed up at my in-laws house unannounced last night. He said my brother-in-law was happy to see...
