Why Pray?????
I've got 5 reasons why we are in a crucial time to PRAY and if you believe, here are the benefits of praying.
1. Receiving Peace and Comfort:
The Bible assures believers that prayer is the antidote to anxiety. God sees and cares that you have been walking around edgy and anxious. By presenting your requests to God with thanksgiving, you can receive "the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding" to guard their heart and mind (Philippians 4:6–7). God is also described as the "God of all comfort" who comforts believers in all their troubles (2 Corinthians 1:3–4).
2. Receiving Guidance and Wisdom
Prayer is a means of receiving direction, especially when faced with trials or difficult decisions. Don't you want a download of direction, wisdom and answers to what you have been praying for? The Scriptures promise that if anyone "lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all" (James 1:5). Believers are encouraged to pray for God to show them His ways and teach them His paths (Psalm 25:4).
3. Strengthening Relationship and Intimacy with God
Prayer is the essential communication that fosters a deeper, more personal relationship. When believers "draw near to God, he will draw near to you" (James 4:8). It allows for an understanding of God's loving nature and will (1 John 5:14). God wants to be in a relationship with you and wants to talk with you daily, throughout the day, and anytime:)
4. Gaining Power and Overcoming Temptation
Prayer provides spiritual strength and protection. Jesus instructed his disciples to "Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation" (Matthew 26:41). The Bible also states that "The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results" (James 5:16). Today, we need power more than ever to not give into temptations all around.
5. Receiving Forgiveness and Healing
Prayer is linked to spiritual and physical restoration. Believers are encouraged to confess sins and "pray for one another, that you may be healed" (James 5:16). King Hezekiah’s prayer, for example, resulted in his physical healing (2 Kings 20:5). You will always find healing and restoration on the other side of repentance and forgiveness.
