, Whitney Houston’s mother and a Grammy-winning singer, dies at 91

Cissy Houston, the mother of the late Whitney Houston and a two-time Grammy winner who performed alongside superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, and Aretha Franklin, has died. She was 91.

Houston died Monday morning in her New Jersey home while under hospice care for Alzheimer’s disease, her daughter-in-law Pat Houston told The Associated Press. The acclaimed gospel singer was surrounded by her family.

“Our hearts are filled with pain and sadness. We loss the matriarch of our family,” Pat Houston said in a statement. She said her mother-in-law’s contributions to popular music and culture are “unparalleled.”

“Mother Cissy has been a strong and towering figure in our lives. A woman of deep faith and conviction, who cared greatly about family, ministry, and community. Her more than seven-decade career in music and entertainment will remain at the forefront of our hearts.”

Sad news- Tito Jackson, a member of the famed Jackson Five has died at 70. Tito was the third of the nine Jackson children. His sons TJ, Taj and Taryll said in a statement "It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being."

Our hearts are with The Jacksons during this difficult time.

We are saddened to report that legendary singer Frankie Beverly has died. His family released a statement saying "he loved his life with pure soul as one would say, for us, no one did it better."

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones. May he rest in power. 🕊️

Sad news: award winning actor James Earl Jones has died at 93.

Jones was an EGOT winner with over 80 film credits. He began his career on Broadway in 1958 and would go on to star and voice several popular and critically acclaimed roles including Star Wars villian Darth Vader, Mufasa in "The Lion King," and King Jaffe Joffer in "Coming to America."
