Your brain can't access clarity, focus, or good decision-making when it doesn't feel safe. Your survival system overrides everything.

Before you push yourself, ground yourself.

That's why the Perspective Pivot starts with Acknowledge: name what's happening. It literally activates your prefrontal cortex and calms your amygdala.

Safety first. Clarity second. Strategy last.

That's how your brain works with you instead of against you.

You know the thoughts I'm talking about. The ones that show up uninvited, usually around 3am. The ones that doubt you, scare you, and definitely aren't on your side.

I call them 3am thoughts. And I've learned to Acknowledge, Adjust, and Align my way through them. Because I really don't want them running the show.

👉 Acknowledge: I notice what's happening without shame. I name it so my brain knows I see it. "I'm spiraling. My mind is telling me I'm going to fail."

👉 Adjust: I ask, "What else could be true here?" Not to convince myself everything is fine. But to break the certainty that catastrophe is the only option. I check the story against evidence. I remind myself: my brain is guessing, not reporting facts.

👉 Align: I choose one action that supports my values, not my fears. Something small. Something real.

This is exactly what happened the night before I walked back onto the set of The Blox after falling off the leaderboard.

My spiral voice was vicious: "You peaked too soon. Everyone's about to watch you fail spectacularly on national television. This will define you forever."

I used the Pivot. I named what was happening. I generated other possibilities. I chose how I wanted to show up the next morning.

Same situation. Totally different outcome.

I walked back on that set and won. Not because the fear disappeared. Because I learned to navigate it.

More on this story in my upcoming book, The Perspective Pivot.

When your brain freezes, avoids, or shuts down, it's not broken. It's overloaded.

Your nervous system is signaling: "Too much. Too fast. Not safe yet."

Your job isn't to push. It's to step back and reduce the load: one task, one step, one cue.

Once your brain feels safe enough, your motivation comes back online. Every single time.

Working with my spiral has become one of my greatest advantages.

Because you can't think your way out of panic. You have to anchor your way out.

Here's how the Perspective Pivot works:

𝗔𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲: Name what's happening. Out loud or in your head. "I'm anxious right now. My chest is tight. My spiral voice is telling me I'm going to fail." When you put feelings into words, you activate your prefrontal cortex, which automatically quiets your amygdala. You're not judging yourself. You're not trying to make it stop. You're just naming what's true.

𝗔𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁: Ask yourself, "What else could this mean?" This isn't about forcing positivity. It's about breaking the certainty that your first scary interpretation is the only possibility. Generate alternatives. Check the story against actual evidence. Spirals feed on certainty, not facts.

𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻: Choose one small action that reflects who you want to be. Not a different thought. An actual move. Ask yourself: "What would the calm, capable version of me do right now?" Then do that one thing.

Three steps. Three seconds. That's all it takes to bring your logical brain back online.

This isn't positive thinking. This is neural reprogramming.

🎯 STEP 3: ALIGN

A pivot only matters if you move in the direction of your values. 🧭💫

Once you’ve Acknowledged the emotion and Adjusted the thought — it’s time to Align your action.
Ask yourself: “What choice today supports who I want to be tomorrow?” 🌅

Alignment is how you retrain your nervous system for consistency, not chaos. ⚖️
It’s where clarity turns into momentum. 🚀

Awareness starts the shift. Alignment makes it real. 🔥

Comment “ALIGN” if you’re ready to turn awareness into action. 💬

⚙️ STEP 2: ADJUST

The moment you notice the thought — that’s your doorway to power. 🚪

The Adjust step is your mental steering wheel. 🧭
When you catch yourself spiraling, your job isn’t to argue with the thought.
It’s to interrupt the pattern. ⚡

Ask: “What else might be true here?” 🤔
That one question activates your brain’s cognitive flexibility network — shifting you from emotional bias to possibility. 🧠✨

You’re not ignoring the problem.
You’re creating space to choose your response. 🪞

Drop a 🔄 if you’re learning to rewrite your default thoughts.

🧠 STEP 1: ACKNOWLEDGE

You can’t pivot from what you refuse to look at. 👀

Before you can shift your perspective, your brain needs safety. 🛟
That means naming what’s real, not running from it.
The brain can’t solve what it’s still denying. 🧬

So pause. ⏸️
Say it out loud. 🗣️
Write it down. ✍️
“A part of me feels ___ right now.” 💭

That acknowledgment flips your brain from reactive (amygdala) to reflective (prefrontal cortex).
This is where self-leadership begins. 💪

Tag someone who needs permission to stop powering through. 🤍
