As an emerging Artist, it is difficult to propagate a style or sound that you haven't mastered.

Trying to get people to jump on or stan your sound, when you are unable to deliver it with excellence and mastery, will discourage any audience - even your family members.

The common desire of every audience or market, is to experience a product (music) in a way that inspires, entertain or provide a form of economic or emotional value.

If you are bringing a new sound of music to the music market, ensure you've mastered its expression beyond the expectation of your audience.

No matter its beauty, no one wants to eat a bad cake.

Spend more time upping your game, improving your sound and your brand, your excellence and mastery will stand you out.

Trying to attract or get the attention of everyone to your music, is a waste of time.

Marketing yourself or your music as an emerging Artiste is to make you visible, but most importantly emphasize what makes you valuable & unique to your target audience.

Before creating and posting your video content to push your song, here are some fundamental questions you should answer;

1. What are the characteristics or attributes of those the video is intended to attract?; if the purpose is to attract a potential investor, ensure to show creativity, acceptance and community strength (by having people in the video with you), display passion and utilize energy to elicit emotions of either laughter, admiration, inspiration, courage, etc.

2. Identify what indicators will reflect results: if your main goals is to attract investors & get more followers, and if after your video has hit 1k views, no investor reached out, and you didn’t get new followers, your main goal wasn’t achieved- even though your video got engagements and views.

3. Be sure there’s a consistent message or coordinated objective in all your contents.
It could be your dance, how you begin or end your content, how you dress, your language, section or part of the song you are pushing etc.

Patterns make it easy for people to form an impression, you should make it easy for people to decide if they like you or not.

Posting content because others are doing it, and assuming everyone following you is interested in your product, is wrong.

Until people respond to your marketing by either engaging, supporting, purchasing or investing, assume they are not interested (at the moment), then focus on tweaking your content to further serve those who are interested.

As an emerging Artiste (upcoming), your way out of your current level is access to information.

The right information.

This is the reason why you need a team, because it provides you an environment that has information.

Building a team is a continuous activity as long as you are still an emerging Artiste.

So when Artistes are advised to build a team, it is another way of saying; put yourself in an environment of people who have the right information and can bring in their energy, to help you succeed.

A-list Artistes have a complete team because their operations needs precision and excellence, so expert hands are required.

Building a team as an emerging Artiste is easy, but it takes time, and trust.

If you have people around you who assist you consistently to achieve your goals now, that’s your team you’re building.

A team doesn’t have to be defined in terms of portfolio.

You don’t need to call the person your manager, A&R or something.

As long as you’ve 1,2, or cool people working and assisting you, that’s your team.

But all you need to do in the building stage, is to make your activities more coordinated and purposeful.

Those guys that follow you to events, and record you while your perform are quasi-team members.

You don’t need to hire people, before you consider it a team.

Because you do your things yourself, doesn’t mean you don’t have a team.

As long as there's someone who has been deliberately and consistent assisting in one way or the other, that’s your team.

Building a team as an emerging Artiste, is about identify and influencing people into helping you achieve your goals.

These can be within your friends, family or colleagues in music.

It is not until you have to hire people to work for you, that you consider it a team.

The people around you now, make up your team.
