(Former Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones has reportedly secured a $9.5 million settlement from Merrill Lynch, following claims that one of the firm’s former financial advisers stole millions from his investment accounts.

According to ESPN and CBS Sports, Jones alleged that the adviser misappropriated approximately $2.6 million through unauthorized transactions and fraudulent activity. The case was settled earlier this month, with Merrill Lynch agreeing to pay Jones $9.5 million to resolve the dispute.

The accused adviser, who no longer works for Merrill Lynch, is also facing criminal charges of grand theft and fraud in Florida.

Jones, a two-time Pro Bowl selection who played eight seasons with the Dolphins, trusted the firm to manage his career earnings. The settlement highlights ongoing concerns about athlete financial literacy and the risks of misconduct within the wealth management industry.
While the settlement does not constitute an admission of guilt by Merrill Lynch, it represents a significant victory for Jones in reclaiming funds lost to alleged financial misconduct.
