Finally getting around to sharing these reflections from our recent trip to to say goodbye to the building. Even though we reside outside of the Midwest - we have been grateful to be welcomed as part of the KTQ community. Over the past decade, we have made numerous trips to KTQ through the process of working on and . We have shared countless meaningful memories in the building and absorbed countless lessons about ethics and storytelling in these rooms. We will miss the space - but we know it’s for the betterment of the organization’s future to find a new home. The strength of the community transcends any physical space. Wishing everyone in the KTQ community all the best with the transition, and our deepest appreciation to all the staff and volunteers who worked so hard on the move.

They are seeking creative works from young filmmakers in the Washington, D.C. area, to showcase and celebrate the diverse, lived experiences of DC-area youth; their backgrounds, communities, friends, families, and most importantly their perspectives.

This was a nice surprise! Film critic Scott Lacy named City of Trees Film as one of his "Top 10 documentaries that delighted me in 2023." Here's what he had to say:

"CITY OF TREES (2015): A quiet monument to a critical aspect of a good documentary: access through trust. Brandon and Lance Kramer patiently follow a D.C. non-profit whose visible purpose is to refoliate the city’s barren parks, but whose underlying mission is to provide second chances to residents who’ve already blown through a few. It’s impossible not to fall in love with these young men as they strive toward lives of purpose and respect."

CITY OF TREES was just re-released on Amazon Prime Video, Kanopy and Tubi. If you never saw the film during the original release several years ago, now is the perfect time to watch!
