Read Hannah ‘22’s article about the effect of Covid on the environment. Here is an excerpt:

Thus, with fewer people travelling, there were fewer cars on the road. According to a poll of Visi students, 58.3 percent drive. Out of that percentage, the majority of girls thought they had driven less since the pandemic started. This is a step in the right direction for environmental conversation, as the United States releases the world’s second greatest amount of carbon emissions next to China.

Staff Editorial: Blessed Carlo Acutis is a sign of the times

Artwork by Lauren ‘23.

Could anything be more fitting during this strange year than the beatification of a teenager known for his love of the internet? On October 10, Carlo Acutis, who died of leukemia at the age of 15 in 2006, was officially declared “Blessed” by the Catholic Church. His beatification comes during an era of unprecedented dependence on the internet, as the pandemic at hand has forced the nation to turn to the likes of apps such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams for everything from work to school to basic human interaction. As we all spend more time on our devices in order to stop the spread of COVID-19, the example of Carlo Acutis can provide us with an important reminder that the use of technology does not necessarily preclude us from growing in our relationship with God.
