tNY Press

tNY Press A literary publishing experiment. 800+ writers strong. Publishing books, making movies, putting on shows, gettin' weird with words.

When we started out, our simple aim was to discover and publish stories that cannot be categorized as poetry or prose. Since then, we’ve published over 1500 stories, just scratching the surface of the infinite ways that humans can use words to express themselves. This idea has grown into something much more expansive – a network of artists and creators that span the globe, working together to explode literature into as many forms and mediums as we can find.

Editor, Chuck Young, wrote a children's book & frequently featured artist, Aniela Sobieski, illustrated it & if you have a tNY.Press sized surplus in your wallet you could totally buy it! Kirkus Reviews called it "breathtakingly original" even! Which was really friggin nice of them!

Thank you hope you are all well & to all a goodnight.

Hey friends, tNY.Press is for sale.

It's been an amazing 5 years. We're so grateful and humbled by all of your support, and also by the neverending genius of our writers. But it's time the editors move on to new things as we have grown tNY as big and strong as we are able.

That said, we'd hate to s***f out all the potential it still has. Between the print magazine, books, and our new partnership with the LA Review of Books (via ExperimentalLit.com), tNY.Press is an amazing factory for new writing talent and literary experiments.

We are looking to sell and/or pass the baton to a person or publisher who want to get their hands on a real dope venue for experimental lit. We are taking bids until June 15 and then making a decision on June 20th. Please share this post, tell your friends, spread the words, so we can put tNY into good hands.

We attached a basic deck with more details.

Thanks,

Josh, Chuck, & co.

Somewhere in the middle of all of our name changes and legal threats from The New Yorker. Back when we were "theNewerYork Irreverence Co." we managed to turn August Smith's story "Depressed Obama" into an animation with the genius help of Matt Kresling.

We are pretty stoked to announce that we are now part of The Los Angeles Review of Books (LARB)

We don’t know what this means except that big things are coming. If it wasn’t already cool as hell to be published on our website, now our stories will be syndicated on LARB’s website and newsletters, and sometimes print editions. We hope their audience of hundreds of thousands of readers around the world ushers in a new day for our small press. We’re as hellbent as ever on changin' the way we read and write.

theEEEL is no longer at theEEEL.com, you can find us at ExperimentalLit.com

Thanks for everyone who has supported us through the years and brought us to this point. Thanks to the thousands of writers who have submitted and keep' em coming (tnypress.submittable.com)

Hey everyone, idea:

What if our website had a dream section? Where people could submit their very short stories about dreams they just had. Requirement being it had to have been within the last 24 hours.

Dreams are so literary and wrought with perceived meaning but also often cliché expressions of insecurity or desire. But insofar as the author actually experienced them, they are also sort of non-fiction, which is interesting. Thoughts?

Are you all happy about a world where BuzzFeed Books is an actual entity in the literary scene?

We're all for the future of publishing and the uprooting of traditional literature, but this sort of seems like a nightmare. Please discuss.
