This is still very much a sincerely held belief in ✨disability theology✨ which is part of the postmodern, Marxist ideology found in ✨liberation theology✨

It comes from the Gospel account at the end of John, where Jesus appears resurrected to the Apostles, and allows Thomas to touch His crucifixion wounds as evidence that He is the risen Christ. In ✨disability theology✨ that evidence is taken out of context to infer that Jesus resurrected with the crucifixion wounds as a “disability” or “impairment” of some kind. However this is patently false, heretical, and downright blasphemous!

Let me be ABUNDANTLY CLEAR, that YES, “inclusion” and “belonging” are imperative parts of the Gospel. Our treatment of others is a reflection and massive marker of our internal relationship with Christ. However, the PRIMARY goal of the Gospel is NOT how we subjectively “feel” included in a given group, or “feel” like we belong with our current church. In fact, if THAT is our biggest problem in the American Church, then we are more privileged than we realize. However, the primary goal of the Gospel is reconciliation with God first, and then extended to all others. Inclusion is NOT indicative of Salvation. Someone may not feel included, but have a strong relationship with Christ. Conversely, someone may feel VERY included, but they may not recognize Jesus as Lord, or they may reject Him entirely! Inclusion is just about how you feel in the room. The Gospel is about permanent reconciliation to the Holy God who created us.
