My husband never gave me gifts, like, EVER! We were married for 28 years—I stuck by Viktor when he was just a laborer and later when he became rich. He spent tons of money on charity, and our kids got everything, but he never bought me a single thing. Not for Christmas, not for our anniversaries—nothing. For years, I pretended it didn’t bother me, but honestly, it hurt so much. Recently, I even started hinting that I’d been dreaming about this brooch for ages.
