What I wouldn't give to visit a quaint mountain town right about now! The heat is cooling off a bit this week but not fast enough. I just want to wear jeans and baggy sweatshirts again. Is that too much to ask?! 😅

Shinpei has a couple screws loose yet I can't help but like him 😅

Firefly Wedding was my second manga series read. It isn't complete (only five volumes out currently) but when I saw that the anime was releasing in October, I knew I needed to read it first!

Shinpei is the most dangerous assassin on the island sent to kill a kidnapped Sakoto for reasons unknown. In fear for her life, she tells him she will marry him (promising him wealth beyond imagining) if he helps her escape. Like the psycho he is, he agrees and immediately falls in love with her. I'm talking like I'm obsessed with you, I watch you sleep, will unalive anyone that touches you kinda love. The manga follows their adventure in trying to leave the island and all the characters new and old they run into to get there.

This one is for those of you that love a dark MMC and darker elements to your romance stories. Although it isn't that dark, always check triggers if you have any ❤️

Do you binge thiccc books in one go or spread it out?

I've been working on City of Souls and Sinners for a few weeks. I got almost half way and then got distracted by other books 😅 OOPS. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the story but it's just SO long and the writing is SO smol. I will say that I'm loving how more POVs are being brought into the story and so we are getting to know more about the other Devils. I'm looking forward to diving back in this week after I finish The Wolves of Crescent Creek series.

I'm loving this series!

If you are looking for a series to binge that won't push your TBR back too much, check out The Wolves of Crescent Creek series. This is a why choose shifter romance perfect for those new to reverse harem. I like my books to be at least 80% plot and this one has been great at giving a great story while still having the fun aspects of reading a why choose. These books are short (about 250 pages each) and can be devoured in one day!

What This Week

📖 I binged Crescent Kingdom yesterday evening and so I plan to continue with the rest of the series this week! It's been so long since I've read a shifter romance that after I finish binging this one, I'd love to finally read The Night Prince. I've been going back and forth on if I want to read it closer to the third book's release date or not. My friend, 𝙨𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙗𝙨 ✨️📚, was sweet enough to gift me her indie copies a few months ago. She packaged them all nice and included some stickers and tabs ❤️

🎧 Now that the kiddos are in school, I can listen to audiobooks again. I restarted my listen of Fever Dream today. The plan is to do some power washing this week so I'll be focusing on finishing this one up!

📺 My husband and I have been watching the new season of Ted Lasso and loving it! It's so great to be back with these characters.

Phew this week was busier than I thought it would be! I've had the post ready to go for like 4 days 😅 I saw my friend Eliza post this trend at the beginning of the week and thought it would be a fun to post mine.

PS. We pulled out the old Wii last night and played Just Dance. This is by far my favorite song to play 💃🏻🕺🏻

It's been a hot minute since I read a shifter or why choose romance..

I finished up my book club read on Monday and have been working on the last 30% of Dungeon Crawler Carl this week. But man am I really wanting to grab these books and binge them. I was gifted this series from Bloom Books a couple weeks ago and they look like the perfect bite sized SNACK at about 250 pages each. I've been reading so many long books lately (*cough* City of Souls and Sinners I'm looking at you 👀 *cough, cough*) it will be nice to have a break with some quick reads.

💬 What is your perfect book length?
For me, romance books are perfect at 300-400 pages and
fantasy at 350-450 pages. I've been seeing so many fantasy books lately at 500/600 pages from the get go and I'm not gonna lie.. it makes me put them off longer 😅

What's your favorite meet cute?

I love a "they meet on vacation" romance. It has so many opportunities for fun banter and adventures. I don't generally read seasonal books during their seasons. Sometimes it's nice to escape to a warm climate in the midst of winter, ya know? But one more summery read might be nice before I dive into my gothic/dark fantasy TBR for fall.

Thank you to Casablanca Books for this gifted ARC copy. I can't wait to escape to one more fictional vacation before the chill hits!
