Here's the cool part: gravity does all the work. You'd fall faster and faster as you got closer to the center.
Right in the middle, you'd be moving at an insane speed — about 28,000 km/h.
Then that same speed would carry you back up, slowing down little by little, until you popped out on the other side of the planet. 🌍
And here's the part that's hard to believe: it doesn't matter where the tunnel goes.
A short tunnel between two nearby cities and a long tunnel to the far side of the world would both take the same 42 minutes.
Shorter tunnels mean you never get going as fast.
Of course, this could never actually happen.
The middle of the Earth is thousands of degrees hot, so no tunnel (or person) could survive it.
Still, it's one of the simplest ways to see how powerful and strange gravity really is.
