"Regardless of context or style, Geoffrey Keezer is equally comfortable in all-acoustic settings and those requiring more contemporary use of electronics. Consistently inventive and virtuosic, Keezer is, above all, unfailingly musical." - John Kelman (All About Jazz)
“With a full, oaky voice, and a keen perception of harmony, it is no wonder that Gillian Margot stands out from today’s top vocalists. The ability to beautifully depict a song’s melody with a vast alto range is what allows her to lead a band as a dynamic vocalist, but also enables her to function as an in-demand sidewoman.” - Marcus Strickland
“…not only a superb technician and improviser, but also above and beyond this, a composer and conceptualist who can maintain the overall line and the DNA of the song in everything he plays. A musician's musician." - Sting

Multiple GRAMMY-nominated pianist Geoffrey Keezer features soulfully scintillating vocalist Gillian Margot to present a new program of selections from Keezer’s new upcoming trio release and Margot's critically acclaimed new CD, “Black Butterfly.”
A voracious collector of songs, Margot’s disarmingly wide vocal range and style eschews jazz singer clichés for refreshing delivery. Black Butterfly (Hipnotic 2015) is an artfully crafted set produced by jazz trumpet star Jeremy Pelt and involving some of the most in-demand musicians on the New York scene, and speaks to the singer's passion for musical diversity while showcasing her multifaceted talents.
Geoffrey Keezer’s highly regarded discography, unique compositions, and acclaimed performances in a variety of configurations, commands the attention typically reserved for the living legends of jazz. Hailed by icons and contemporaries alike as a “consummate musician,” Keezer’s full flowing piano and arranging prowess have so much to say that it provides both the perfect accompaniment and conversant partner to Margot’s vocal.

ABOUT GEOFFREY KEEZER
With his highly regarded discography, unique compositions, and acclaimed performances in a variety of configurations, pianist Geoffrey Keezer commands the attention typically reserved for the living legends of jazz. Whether recording with jazzy chanteuses Diana Krall or Dianne Reeves, touring with trumpet king Chris Botti, or collaborating with pop icon Sting, sax legend Wayne Shorter, guitar wizard Jim Hall, star bassist Christian McBride or vibes master Joe Locke, Geoffrey “has more than enough virtuosity and sheer musical wit and intelligence to weave all of his apparently disparate strands of influence into an original and compelling whole" (Time Magazine). Perhaps the most exciting turn in Geoffrey’s career is his recent focus on solo piano and his first solo release in thirteen years, Heart of the Piano (2013, Motema Records). On a mission to redefine solo jazz piano as a personal and interactive showcase of melody, energy and groove, Keezer brings to Heart of the Piano his most direct and focused artistry to date. But regardless of the nature of his projects, from solo to duo to quartet, from bandleader to big band, from post bop jazz to electronica to global fusion, from composer to arranger, Geoffrey delivers music from the heart of the piano to the ear--and heart--of the listener.

ABOUT GILLIAN MARGOT
Having an exquisite voice, a disarmingly wide range and a style that is deeply rooted in the tradition of the great jazz vocalists, Gillian Margot possesses a gift of storytelling and stunning lyrical delivery. A native of Toronto (Canada), Margot started in jazz the hard-working, old-fashioned way. Performing several sets a night and leading a wide variety of ensembles, she also studied under jazz legends including Oscar Peterson, Freddy Cole, and Norman Simmons, and has performed with artists worldwide, including rock icon Sting, famed soprano Kathleen Battle, jazz voice Kevin Mahogany, New York trumpet star Jeremy Pelt, the Strickland Brothers, Robert Glasper, and now multiple award-winning pianist, Geoffrey Keezer. Her critically acclaimed CD, Black Butterfly (2015, Hipnotic Records) is “an impressive album which has her honey-toned voice deliver hints of a young Aretha Franklin… This lady needs to be heard” (L.A. Weekly). Equally at home in the musical worlds of jazz, R&B and pop, Black Butterfly speaks to the singer's passion for diversity and is an artfully crafted set that showcases her multifaceted musicality.
