December 1, 1948. A well-dressed man is found dead on Somerton Beach, Australia. No ID. No wallet. Every tag cut from his clothes.
Hidden in a secret pocket sewn into his trousers, police find a torn scrap of paper reading "Tamam Shud" — Persian for "it is ended." It leads investigators to a rare copy of a 12th-century book of poetry... with five mysterious lines of code scrawled inside the back cover.
For 73 years, cryptographers, the FBI, and amateur codebreakers around the world try to crack it. Nobody succeeds.
Then in 2022, science finally answers half the mystery. Using DNA extracted from a single hair trapped in the man's decades-old death mask, researchers identify him: Carl "Charles" Webb, an electrical engineer from Melbourne with a broken marriage and a life that had quietly fallen apart.

December 2009. West Valley City, Utah. 28-year-old Susan Powell — a wife, a mother of two — vanishes from her own home without a trace.
Her husband, Josh Powell, says he took their two young sons on a midnight camping trip... in the middle of a blizzard. When Susan doesn't show up for work, police enter the home and find something disturbing: a wet spot on the carpet, two fans running to dry it, and blood on the tile floor.
Investigators confirm the blood belongs to Susan. Josh Powell becomes the only person of interest in the case. He's never arrested. He's never charged.
For over two years, the case sits unresolved — until February 2012, when everything changes in the worst possible way. During a supervised visit, Josh locks his two sons inside the family home and detonates a gas explosion, killing all three of them.
The one person who may have held the truth was gone.
To this day, Susan Powell has never been found. She has not been legally declared dead.

📍 The Franklin Expedition
📍 Canadian Arctic
📅 1845–1848
📌 Status: Historical Mystery — All 129 Expedition Members Perished

In 1845, British explorer Sir John Franklin set sail into the Arctic with two ships:

HMS EREBUS.

HMS TERROR.

Their mission was to find and navigate the legendary Northwest Passage.

There were 129 men.

NONE OF THEM CAME HOME.

The expedition entered the frozen Arctic...

Then disappeared.

Years later, a message revealed part of the horrifying story.

The ships had become trapped in the ice.

Sir John Franklin had died.

And by April 1848, the surviving crew made a desperate decision.

They abandoned their ships...

AND WALKED INTO THE FROZEN WILDERNESS.

None of the remaining men survived.

For more than a century, the exact locations of the lost ships remained one of history's greatest mysteries.

Then came a major breakthrough.

HMS Erebus was discovered in 2014.

HMS Terror was discovered in 2016.

The discoveries helped answer some questions—but not all of them.

📍 The Zodiac's 340 Cipher

📌 Status: Cipher Solved — Zodiac Case Still Unsolved

In 1969, the Zodiac Killer sent a mysterious message containing 340 encrypted symbols to the San Francisco Chronicle.

For decades, cryptographers, investigators, and amateur codebreakers tried to understand it.

No one could crack it.

For 51 YEARS...

THE CODE REMAINED SILENT.

Then, in December 2020, three independent codebreakers finally solved the mystery.

David Oranchak, Sam Blake, and Jarl Van Eycke discovered how to read the Zodiac's infamous 340-character cipher.

The FBI later acknowledged the solution.

But there was one major disappointment...

THE CIPHER DID NOT REVEAL THE KILLER'S IDENTITY.

Instead, the decoded message contained taunts and references that offered no definitive answer to the biggest question of all:

WHO WAS THE ZODIAC KILLER?

More than half a century later, one of America's most infamous cold cases remains officially unsolved.

The code was cracked.

But the killer's name was not inside it.

⚠️ Important: Solving the 340 Cipher did not solve the Zodiac case. The identity of the Zodiac Killer has never been officially confirmed.

🚨 CASE FILE #025

📍 The Bennington Triangle Disappearances 📍 Southwestern Vermont, USA 📅 1945–1950 📌 Status: Multiple Unsolved Disappearances

For five years, people kept disappearing around the remote Glastenbury Mountain region of Vermont.

Five disappearances.

Five very different people.

And almost no answers.

In 1945, 74-year-old Middie Rivers disappeared while hunting in the wilderness. Despite an extensive search, he was never found.

A year later, 18-year-old Bennington College student Paula Welden disappeared while hiking the Long Trail.

Then, in 1949, veteran James Tedford vanished while traveling by bus toward Bennington. Witnesses said he was still on the bus before disappearing.

In 1950, 8-year-old Paul Jepson disappeared near the area while his mother was occupied nearby.

Later that same year, experienced hiker Frieda Langer disappeared near Somerset Reservoir. Her body was eventually recovered the following spring, but the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remained unresolved.

These cases later became connected in popular culture under a name:

THE BENNINGTON TRIANGLE.

But here's the important part...

There is NO official evidence proving that all five disappearances were connected.

The "Bennington Triangle" name became popular decades later, turning a group of mysterious disappearances into one of America's most famous wilderness legends.

Still, one question remains:

WHY DID SO MANY PEOPLE DISAPPEAR FROM THE SAME REMOTE REGION?

📍 William Tyrrell Disappearance

📌 Status: Missing Person — No One Charged

On September 12, 2014, 3-year-old William Tyrrell was playing outside his foster grandmother's home in Kendall, New South Wales.

He was wearing his favorite Spider-Man costume.

At around 10:30 a.m., William was seen playing near the house.

Minutes later...

HE WAS GONE.

His family searched the property and surrounding area before authorities launched a massive search operation involving police, volunteers, dogs, and other resources.

But despite years of investigation and extensive searches, William has never been found.

Investigators have considered different possibilities over the years, including kidnapping and accidental death.

In 2021, police carried out major searches around Kendall while investigating the possibility that William's remains could be hidden in the area.

Nothing conclusively identifying William's whereabouts was discovered.

Police later developed a theory involving William's foster mother and an alleged accidental death, followed by concealment of his body.

However, this remains a POLICE THEORY—not an established fact. William's foster mother has denied involvement.

More than a decade later, the central question remains:

WHERE DID WILLIAM TYRRELL GO?

Because several of the women knew one another or moved within overlapping social circles, questions emerged about whether the cases were connected.

But there is an important distinction:

Different cases had different circumstances, and at least one death resulted in a criminal conviction that was not officially connected to the others.

📍 Maura Murray Disappearance
📍 Haverhill, New Hampshire, USA
📅 February 9, 2004
📌 Status: Missing Person — Unsolved

On February 9, 2004, 21-year-old Maura Murray was driving through New Hampshire when her car crashed on Route 112.

A local resident saw the accident and contacted police.

But when an officer arrived only minutes later...

MAURA WAS GONE.

Her car was locked at the scene, but Maura herself had disappeared.

Despite searches, investigations, interviews, and years of searching for new evidence, she has never been found.

Investigators have considered multiple possibilities, including whether Maura left the crash scene on foot or whether another person was involved.

But no theory has ever been proven.

In recent years, investigators have continued examining the case using modern technology and new investigative techniques.

The FBI has also released an age-progressed image showing what Maura might look like today.

More than 20 years later, one question remains:

WHERE DID MAURA MURRAY GO?

⚠️ The investigation remains active. Theories about what happened to Maura have not been proven.
