A captured Messerschmitt Me 262 fitted with a 50 mm cannon.

An officer displays one of the 5 cm rounds the aircraft fired.

While the Me 262 was the Luftwaffe’s first operational jet fighter, entering service in 1944, most were armed with four 30 mm MK 108 cannons.

Only a few experimental variants, like this one, carried the heavier 50 mm armament for use against bombers.
