Let’s leave homophobia and transphobia in 2025.

I’m sharing this because I’ve experienced it firsthand. I’ve been verbally attacked and threatened simply for existing—and I know how damaging that moment is, long after it’s over.

Homophobic and transphobic language is not “just words.”
It is violence. It is intimidation. It is dehumanization.

Using slurs or degrading language toward q***r and trans people is no different than a white person using the n-word against a Black person. Both are rooted in histories of oppression, meant to strip dignity and signal harm.

Words are powerful. Use them wisely.

What happened in that DC grocery store was not just “an incident.”
It was violence. It was dehumanization. And it was preventable.

To the q***r person who was verbally and physically attacked:
We see you. We stand with you. You did not deserve that. Your existence is not an invitation for harm, debate, or correction. You deserve safety, respect, and peace—everywhere you go.

To my cisgender, heterosexual community: I know not everyone is homophobic. But this behavior is coming from within your community—and it’s on you to check it. Silence creates safety for abusers.
