The Troy Williamson vs Callum Simpson rematch looks like it will finally happen in July. I’m not being funny, but I can’t wait for this fight! If we get Azim vs Claggett in May and this in July on the BBC, I’m happy with it. It’s decent, tbf. This fight has drama written all over it!

I get people talk in the moment and sensationalism sells. But some of the bollox I’ve seen about Usyk’s performance is off the scale. One person said in my comments that he got “slaughtered.” Utter nonsense!

You have to add context to this. Rico proved us all wrong. He made it far more competitive than most thought. But just because someone does better than expected, doesn’t mean you give him rounds. Every round was competitive. But how many times was Usyk hurt or in trouble? How many clean shots did he actually take?

The reality is, even though it was a tough fight, he was never in trouble. I’m in awe of how he finished Rico. The knockdown was heavy. An uppercut right on the jaw that nearly sent Rico out of the ring. If he would have got up and went to the ref, it would have got called off, as his legs were wobbling. Hence why he did the smart thing and spat his gum shield out.

I’m hearing people say he’s not p4p #1 after this performance. Rubbish. A champion isn’t just about winning fights comfortably. It’s what happens when the chips are down and you’re in trouble of losing a fight. What are you going to do in that moment? Usyk steps up time and time again. Incredible mindset. The bloke is a winner. Always finds a way to win. This should be celebrated!

Usyk is held to such high standards that a close fight gets magnified. He’s an incredible ambassador for boxing. He deserves far more respect. To get Kabayel in the ring when Usyk hadn’t even done his interview was disrespectful. Time and a place. You don’t do that to such a legend. You have some respect!

What can get lost in the rat race of professional boxing is the human element of things. In the last 4 years of Oleksandr Usyk’s glorious heavyweight run, not only has he had to compete with monsters who had all the physical attributes over him. He’s also had to carry the immense mental pressure of his country, Ukraine, being in a war.

Let that sink in. Family, friends and history have perished. He’s had to carry the name of his country on the biggest of stages. He’s been a beacon of light in the darkest of times. A source of strength and hope for his country. This is pressure that most elite fighters don’t have to deal with.

And you get people out there who lambast his performance at 39 years of age, after winning everything you can in the pros and amateurs, whilst fighting a bloke whose whole life revolved around this fight. Rico had it all to gain, Usyk had it all to lose and what did he do? He won!! That’s who Oleksandr Usyk is. A winner and an icon!

I didn’t realise until last night when I saw that Teddy Atlas’s video just how long Rico got to recover after his knockdown, which was 30 seconds. I’m sorry, but if that happened to Usyk, there would have been riots. I’m seeing a lot of these wild conspiracy theories that the referee deliberately stopped it after the bell sounded etc.

It this was the case, Rico wouldn’t have got so much time to recover. Now can I see why people think the fight should have continued? Yes. But calls of the biggest robbery in boxing etc is a nonsense. Rico was heavily knocked down, he took a hellacious uppercut to the jaw which nearly sent him out of the ring.

It would have finished most fighters. But like the warrior he is, he got up, but as he went to his corner to put his gum shield back in his legs dipped, which the referee saw. Usyk then landed crushing blows to his jaw, unanswered. Some missed but some connected. It isn’t the referees job to let the round play out. He’s there to protect the fighter and he was more than justified in stopping it.

You can think this and think he should have let it go on given how much time was left. Both can be true at the same time. But calls of robbery and conspiracy’s just isn’t true. I can’t recall in a fight of this magnitude where a fighter gets an extra 30 seconds to recover after a legitimate knockdown.

As I’ve said previously, I don’t believe Keyshawn Davis will accept 25% of the split in a purse bid for the Devin Haney fight, and nor should he have to. It’s disgraceful that men who sit in an office expect any world title challenger to take a 25% split. Utter nonsense!!

It should be 35% minimum. How dare they come up with this crap. It is a stupid, outdated rule that should change. That being said, if this fight does happen, who wins?”

Far too many people are looking too much into Tyson Fury’s victory over Mariusz Wach. It’s nonsense. We all know Tyson doesn’t perform to his best in fights like this. It was content for his Netflix show. Nothing more, nothing less. To say he looks more in decline than AJ just isn’t true.

When the massive fights come up, Tyson Fury performs. I love AJ, but we’re talking levels here. Tyson Fury will knock AJ out. That’s what will happen!

I told you Keyshawn Davis wouldn’t take a 25% split in the Devin Haney fight. I agree with him not taking it. It is absolutely ludicrous what he would have earned compared to Devin, who would have received 75% of the split plus extra money negotiated with DAZN.

After expenses and tax, Davis probably would have come out with $1M. Well done to the sanctioning bodies who think it’s acceptable for any fighter who puts their life on the line in the ring to take a 25% split of the purse.

They are the reason this fight isn’t happening. It should be a minimum of 30%, and if the sanctioning bodies did their job and enforced a mandatory for a fighter who deserved it due to their wins, then it should be 60-40.

F*****g disgraceful that men in suits, who don’t take the punches, think it’s ok for any fighter to earn 25%. Would they take 25% in their line of work?

You can't be a boxer, you've taken trips to Europe, you've been around the world. You can't be a fighter with that. You want to fight guys like me? Animals? I don't want my kids to go through that, it's degrading. Boxing, you do it when you have nothing. It's a lot of sacrifices, pain, suffering. I took the blows so that my children wouldn't have to do it. When I look at them, I see middle-class children, who went to school, who do what they want. Boxing means wanting to be the best, to dominate everyone.
I don't want to put that kind of pressure on them."
