Welcome to Pet•cetera!

For years I’ve wondered why Columbus didn’t have a pet magazine. Other cities do—why not us? Every so often, the idea would pop back into my head. I’d doodle mastheads and content lists in a notebook, dream about what it could be, then shelve it for “someday.”

Finally, last fall, I pulled the idea back off the shelf and decided “someday” was here. It was time to create a hyper-local lifestyle magazine about pets and their people having fun and living great lives together. In our city, for our city.

It would be filled with interesting stories and beautiful photography sharing the joys, frustrations, and incredible bond between pets and their owners. We would share places to go and things to do with your pet, useful products and services to make life with pets easier, and fun items for pet lovers. And it had to be a nicely designed, high-quality magazine people would want to read and share with friends, supported by a website and social channels where readers can connect and interact with us and each other.

This was a tall order, but after about fifteen years of thinking, dreaming, and shelving the idea, I gathered some of the most creative and talented people I know and started making the magazine I’ve always wanted. You’re holding the first issue of Pet•cetera, central Ohio’s local magazine for pet lovers. Thanks for picking it up, being curious, and joining us on this adventure!
