“Ayatollah Khamenei was in his office, and several times security personnel asked him to move to another city, but he refused. He said, ‘If you can move 90 million Iranians to another city, I will move after that.’ They offered him, ‘We will provide you with a basement for your safety,’ but he replied, ‘If you could build a basement for all Iranians…’” So he remained in his office, in his home, and in the morning, the plane of the Zionist regime and the United States attacked his office. He, his wife, his daughter-in-law, and some of his nephews were killed.

Thousands turned out on Friday for the burial of the slain son of former Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi in a town that still holds allegiance to the late longtime leader.

Seif al-Islam Gaddafi, once seen by some as Libya's heir apparent, was shot dead in his home in the northwestern city of Zintan on Tuesday.

His burial in the town of Bani Walid, some 175 kilometres (110 miles) south of Tripoli, brought together thousands of Gaddafi loyalists, nearly 15 years after the ruler was toppled and killed in a 2011 NATO-backed uprising.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the United States would withdraw from dozens of international organisations and United Nations bodies, including a major climate treaty and a U.N. agency focused on gender equality and women’s empowerment, arguing they operate “contrary to U.S. national interests.”

In a memo sent to senior administration officials, Trump listed plans to exit 35 non-U.N. groups and 31 U.N. entities. Among them is the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), widely regarded as the cornerstone of global climate diplomacy and the parent agreement to the 2015 Paris climate accord.

The move follows Washington’s decision last year to skip the annual U.N. climate summit for the first time in more than 30 years.
