An intense storm boomed through the Washington, D.C. region overnight on Sept. 3, downing roughly 300 trees and tree limbs in the District alone.

Residents woke up to blocked streets, damaged cars and downed power lines. By early afternoon, the city had received about 1,100 requests for tree removals, and most streets had reopened — but officials say the cleanup will stretch across several days.

Thank you to everyone who reported downed trees and power lines to 311. If you still see damage in your neighborhood, call it in.
