Ukraine Freedom Support Group

Ukraine Freedom Support Group The UFSG spearheaded support for the Ukraine Freedom Support Act & is focused on effecting U.S. foreign policy towards Ukraine through advocacy & education.

The Ukraine Freedom Support Act (UFSA - Public Law 113-272) was signed into law on December 18th, 2014, but its provisions have yet to be implemented by President Obama. The UFSA authorizes the President provide the Ukrainian Government defensive weapons and impose additional economic sanctions against Russia. We believe that the United States Government should fully implement all provisions of th

e Ukraine Freedom Support Act of 2014 so that Ukraine may defend itself from the continuing and escalating Russian aggression. We demand that the United States follows through on its assurances to protect Ukraine’s integrity, sovereignty, and democratic freedom. In the runup to the passage of the Ukraine Freedom Support Act, our group coordinated pass2828.org - a massive grassroots campaign that helped push the bill through Congress. As we develop and hone our strategy, we continue to consult with government officials, politicians, seasoned veterans of the DC political elite. We ask you to join our efforts by spreading our message and by spending a few minutes each day contacting U.S. government officials. Together we passed the law, together we will implement it. Did you know that when we finished the project and put it in freeze hold the Russian operatives took over the domain and redirected it to a p**n site? Now they quit the redirect. But still hold on to it. The listing price for this .org domain is $900.

Read about the cliffhanger quest to preserve sanctions on Russia that took place in the last 7 days of the 114th Congress. It's a story of grassroots lobbying and unwavering push to right the wrong by unaffiliated Ukrainian-American activist groups. http://story.ufsg.org ** Please share this post with your friends **

‼️BREAKING‼️

House of Representatives leadership just confirmed that these are the last votes of the Congress. The House won't be meeting next week. The House jailbreak for holidays has begun right now.

We have a VERY short amount of time to contact the Senate. This is our last shot to maximize Senate input NOW.

‼️ Update‼️

We are now expanding out advocacy campaign to include Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky because Senator McConnell has the ability to bring the STAND for Ukraine Act directly to the Senate floor.

In addition to emailing and calling to urge Chairman Corker and the SFRC, we must also urge Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, as his power as Senate Majority Leader can overrule that of Senator Corker.

Here is sample text for phone calls and emails to Senator McConnell:

"Hello, my name is (YOUR NAME) and my address us (YOUR ADDRESS). I am appealing to you TODAY to urge the Senate's leadership to bring STAND for Ukraine Act, H.R. 5094, for a vote before this Congress goes out of session in a few days. The Ukrainian-American community appreciates your support of Ukraine, and we urge you to continue sanctions against Russia, as well as asserting that Crimea is Ukraine, through making STAND for Ukraine into law. Please champion this very important issue for the future of a strong, independent, prosperous Ukraine, as well as Euro-Atlantic cooperation, European security and American principled leadership in the world!"

Senator McConnell's phone number is (202) 224-2541 and his email is https://www.mcconnell.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/contactform

Thank you!

U.S. sanctions on Russia over annexation of Crimea may be ending in January. U.S. sanctions provided for in Executive Orders 13660, 13661, 13662, (blocking property of persons contributing to the situation in Ukraine) and 13685 (blocking property of persons contributing to the situation in the Crimea region of Ukraine) may expire unless the "STAND for Ukraine Act" is passed before the end of 114th Congress (first half of December). Our goal is to pass this by December 9th.

This bill would assure that "In accordance with United States... no Federal department or agency should take any action or extend any assistance that recognizes or implies any recognition of the de jure or de facto sovereignty of the Russian Federation over Crimea, its airspace, or its territorial waters."
