There aren’t many places in the world you can go and walk in the steps of the men who masterminded a formidable secret police force. Back in 2019, on our very first development trip to Berlin to start what became THE SPIES AMONG US, this place inspired Gabe and I to make the investigation of power a central theme in our film.

On Tuesday, August 4, SPIES screens as part of Campus-Kino, an open-air series running through August in the courtyard of the former Stasi headquarters in Berlin-Lichtenberg — now home to the Stasi Records Archive.

Before the 7:30pm screening, there’s an English-language tour of the archive at 5:45pm. The film is in German and English, subtitled in both, so it’s an easy entry point if you don’t speak German.

SPIONE UNTER UNS / THE SPIES AMONG US is coming to Germany🇩🇪 on January 29 at Zoo Palast in Berlin!! 🍿

Berlin was where we were inspired to make the film way back in 2013 on our fellowship . It’s where we developed the idea in 2019 with the help of , and where much of the film was shot from 2019 - 2024, from the former Stasi HQ, Alexanderplatz to the Brandenburger Tor and Schloss Charlottenburg. This will be an incredibly meaningful screening, with so many of our cast and crew in attendance.

The event will feature a special panel discussion following the screening. Journalist Anja Heyde will moderate filmmakers Jamie and Gabe, Peter Keup, a former Stasi prisoner, and Jochen Girke, a former Stasi officer.
