After 7 1/2 incredible years at PenFed and The PenFed Foundation, I’m stepping away to chase a few more dreams. The next chapter begins with an overseas assignment that puts me back in a newsroom!

I will always advocate for Veterans, rescue animals and other causes that mean the world to me. Filled with gratitude for the opportunities I’ve had and the lifelong friendships I’ve made. This is an exciting (and terrifying) leap of faith, but it’s never too late to follow your heart and dream big.

I have mixed feelings about electric bikes. In the cycling community, there’s a strong camaraderie… a “we’re all in this together” vibe. It’s pretty deflating when you climb a significant hill and someone on an E bike zips right past you. And then I met Henry. He walks with a cane after a major hip injury. Henry had his heart set on participating in this Bike Ride Across Georgia, so he’s pedaling an electric bike for the first time. And getting hip replacement surgery as soon as he gets home! Henry changed my perspective. What do YOU think?

The universe is small. What are the chances I would spend much of the morning cycling with two West Point graduates, Degas Wright and Brian Martin?! Both are from the class of 1985, the same year I graduated from Vassar. At PenFed Credit Union, I’m surrounded by West Pointers, but never imagined to meet them in rural Georgia. And yes, all three of us are Georgia peaches! 🍑

Conquered a challenging 50 mile ride through the mountains of NW Georgia. Cycled with a few Marines and a Navy SEAL so I was in excellent company. Before the ride, I stopped in a Columbus coffee shop and there was a prayer room! Took that as a sign… so I said a prayer for the safety of all the cyclists on this ride.

I never miss an opportunity to reunite with service dog number #1, Bunce, and his awesome veteran, Dan! Bunce is 11 years old now. Amazing that he still remembers me every time we visit. Living his best life with Dan and Kelly in Atlanta. ❤️
