How will tech shape our sustainability future?

VivaTech’s Sustainability Executive Summit (SES), designed for senior executives committed to turning sustainability ambitions into strategic action, will convene tomorrow, June 18, to help answer that question for the better.

SES is a half-day gathering which features two panels and one fireside chat moderated by Ana C. Rold and - with Diplomatic Courier acting as the official media partner for the summit.

France is leveraging its G7 presidency to confront structural causes of global economic and security disruptions.

Profound, multiple, overlapping crises may well force leaders to instead descend into triage mode. Among the most pressing of these crises is a crisis of trust among G7 leaders and geopolitical, economic, and innovation aims increasingly diverge. But it is also a time of great potential, with the G7 Leaders’ Summit and Europe’s largest technology and innovation event VivaTech overlapping, bringing together a mix of powerful individuals who might not typically meet.

The generation that grew up with technology is the one most afraid of it.

Gen Z’s excitement about AI is falling fast while anger is climbing. The labor market is proving them right. The first rungs of the career ladder are being automated away and those are the rungs that teach people how to think.

On June 16, ahead of VivaTech, Diplomatic Courier and World in 2050, through The Embassy, are convening a closed-door Signal Salon where we will hold Jonathan Haidt’s fragility thesis against Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s case for antifragility, alongside Peter Diamandis’s reminder that in an AI economy the scarce resource isn’t intelligence or capital, it’s purpose.

Chatham House Rule. Synthesis to follow, feeding the UNGA Education Futures Forum and Davos 2027.

Do we have the institutional courage to stop designing to placate fragility and start building systems to empower a generation?

🌊The ocean is humanity’s shared heritage and responsibility: a source of sustenance, a medium for infrastructure and economic activity, and the home to ecosystems that keep the planet habitable. This World Ocean Day, we are asked to “reimagine” our relationship with the ocean.

Humanity has been the passive inheritor of the ocean’s generosity. With the entry into force of the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction Agreement in January 2026, we have an opportunity to move beyond passivity in favor of taking on the mantle of active guardians of the ocean’s future.

Obesity affects over a billion people and is a driving factor behind killing diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. The WHO has been tasked with accelerating national responses to obesity in a bid to improve public health while alleviating strain on systems.

To that end, the WHO Foundation convened the “Accelerating the Global Response to Obesity” panel, co-hosted by Eli Lilly and Company on the occasion of the 79th World Health Assembly. Learn about key takeaways here, and read the full Signal Brief on the World in 2050 website.

In addition to hosting our signature Signal Salon, we are excited to be the official partner of the VivaTech Sustainability Executive Summit, and to be moderating twelve panels for VivaTech on the colored and main stages.

With innovation setting the pace and geopolitics setting the stakes, we are shifting the conversation to systems design suited to our shared digital future.

If you’ll be in Paris, we would love to see you.

Can global health make progress amid rupture?

The theme of the annual opening brief for this year’s World Health Assembly in Geneva, this is the unanswered question underlying the WHA’s entire agenda. The future structure of multilateral health architecture is at stake, even as the WHO tries to address proliferating health emergencies (all amid a financing environment that is bad and getting worse).

Philanthropy has stopped being only about giving.

With government development aid in retreat, philanthropy is increasingly about power, coordination, and relevance. Is it still doing good?

Answering that well requires change. In how philanthropies see themselves. In their internal structure. In how they engage with partners. The sector isn’t short on capital, intention, or ideas.

It’s short on a coordinating system built for this era.

How do we redesign philanthropic systems to close the coordination gap? That was the question at the center of our From Generosity to Systems Change Signal Salon, convened through The Embassy, by Diplomatic Courier and co-hosted with APCO and the Global Philanthropy Forum.

Our health systems often work against the very outcomes they’re meant to produce.

Treatment over prevention. Activity over outcomes. Scale over specificity. Legacy structures preserve what needs to be transformed.

How do we give patients real agency over their health? How do we shift institutional focus from reacting to sickness to building for wellbeing?

These questions anchored our Health Systems We Build Together Signal Salon, convened through The Embassy, by Diplomatic Courier and co-hosted by APCO — and participants began sketching the outline of a new social contract for health.
