Matthew 4:18-19 KJV
[18] And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. [19] And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
On the North Side just where the Lake Shore drive terminated was where I called my first residence in one of the high rise residential apartment facing Lake Michigan, North Sheridan. Most evenings after taking a walk at Lake shore I will go up to the roof top where I had my first easel mounted and I would continue with my painting. The view of Chicago there was always breath taking to say the least. At night the fascination and inspiration from the neon lights of all the tall buildings, sky scrappers and the head lights of moving vehicles remains an amazing sight to behold.
One night, my thought shifted as I gazed at the reflection of the moon on the Lake. The scripture that came to my heart Matthew 4 verses 18 and 19. I said to myself, God brought me up here for a reason and it seems like I am majoring on the minor and leaving out the essentials. That evening as I looked up in the sky, I prayed "Oh God, please help me so I can continually be a fisher of men for you". This is why I do the things I do, this is why I take pictures of places, people and myself because everything must find expression in this commission.
The vision for GOLK Travels has always been to demonstrate the Love of Christ everywhere we go in real time. Chicago on my mind.
