ABC National is opposing the Faster Labor Contracts Act.

“By imposing government-mandated contract terms on employers and employees, the FLCA takes away the parties’ basic rights to freely negotiate workplace conditions. This has never happened in America before,” said ABC President and CEO Michael Bellaman.

🏆 In February, BL Harbert International received ABC National's Excellence in Construction Eagle Award for federal government/military projects for its construction of the new U.S. Embassy in Windhoek, Namibia.

🏢 The 12.8-acre site, located in the Klein Windhoek neighborhood on Nelson Mandela Avenue, was designed and constructed to symbolize the strong relationship between the United States and Namibia. The construction industry lost 7,000 jobs in August. 📉

According to an ABC National analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:

- Industry employment grew by 58,000 jobs year over year, an increase of 0.7%
- Nonresidential construction employment decreased by 1,200 positions
- Nonresidential building lost 3,300 jobs
- Nonresidential specialty trade lost 200 positions
- Heavy and civil engineering added 2,300 jobs
- The construction unemployment rate dropped to 3.2% in August
- Unemployment across all industries rose from 4.2% in July to 4.3% in August

Construction quit rate plummets to a nine-year low as retention rates top nearly 10-year charts.

The construction industry had 306,000 job openings on the last day of July, according to an ABC National analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey.

“More than 55% of ABC members expect to increase their staffing levels over the next six months, according to the July reading of the Construction Confidence Index. That measure will be critical to monitor in the months ahead,” said ABC Chief Economist Anirban Basu.
