This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrated in Washington, D.C. with an event honoring Latin and Hispanic heritage in music while uplifting creativity, representation, and belonging across the music industry. 🎶
"An Evening in Harmony: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Through Music" brought bipartisan spirit and cultural pride to the historic Senate Kennedy Caucus Room where honorary co-hosts Sen. Alex Padilla and Sen. Bernie Moreno kicked off a night of conversation, unity, and rhythm, joined by Sens. Peter Welch, Chris C***s, and Amy Klobuchar.
Recording Academy Chief Advocacy & Public Policy Officer Todd Dupler hosted a powerful fireside chat with W***y Rodriguez, Secretary of the Recording Academy’s New York Chapter and co-founder of the International Salsa Museum, and percussionist and bandleader Tito Puente Jr., son of GRAMMY winner and “King of Latin Music” Tito Puente, about the global impact of Latin music, the history and cultural significance of salsa music, and the legacy of Tito Puente.
The event wrapped up with a lively performance by Tito Puente Jr. and his orchestra, where members of Congress and staffers danced to Latin music, including forming a conga line, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
Special thanks to our official partner, Friends of the National Museum of the American Latino, and honorary co-hosts for helping make this unforgettable event possible and .
