Meet the team behind our social media 👋

Before The Scout Guide DC existed, and when my new role was just a dream, Sallie and Jaime were already in my corner. We started working together years ago in real estate, and every project somehow turned into the perfect mix of fun, creativity, and magic. So when TSGDC became real, they were some of the first people I brought in. They already understood the vision and the kind of storytelling I wanted for this community.

Now they’re a core part of how we support and showcase our advertising members. Their signature, thoughtful, joy-filled approach to storytelling will guide the journey of Volume 7, highlighting the people and businesses that make DC extraordinary!

This illustration has become more than just a sweet fun drawing—it’s a reminder of what many of us crave: generosity, creativity, and genuine kindness.

My sister introduced me to (Lindsay Sheldon), whose joyful artwork captivated me. When I reached out as someone unknown to her, Lindsay welcomed me with open arms—a gesture that meant everything as I was taking my first steps into this entrepreneurial journey.

When became reality, she surprised me with this thoughtful drawing as congratulations. Her generosity to someone she barely knew, during such a pivotal moment, captured exactly what I want this platform to represent.

Through Lindsay, I met her ultra talented sister , which led to meeting the incredible (and I mean incredible!) . This is the beautiful chain reaction when established creatives lead with support and lift up others.

This sketch reminds me that no matter how established we become, there’s always room to show up with kindness—the way Lindsay showed up for me.

Thank you for proving that kindness compounds and community creates magic. This is why saying yes—to new people, new partnerships, new possibilities—changes everything.

Born in Turkey and raised in D.C., Deniz brings a global perspective and over 25 years of experience in marketing, PR, and partnerships to her role at The Scout Guide. She’s not just a strategist—she’s a storyteller, a connector, and your biggest cheerleader.

“I first discovered The Scout Guide as a fan,” Deniz says. “I loved how it celebrated local businesses with such care and intention. It felt personal—like it really saw the people behind the work.”

Deniz is a natural champion of small businesses and creative entrepreneurs. She believes in building relationships first, and everything else follows. Her approach to marketing is fueled by heart, hustle, and a genuine desire to help others grow. “TSG is all about community—and I get to be a part of shining a light on the people who make this city so special.”

Deniz connects people with purpose—championing small businesses, building meaningful partnerships, and bringing heart, energy, and a genuine love for D.C. to everything she does.

Also worth noting: her world revolves around her family—they’re the center of it all. She loves being a fan, listening to The Dead, sipping icy wine (iykyk), and daydreaming about her favorite home away from home, Bodrum—some things never change.
