Koalas spend most of their lives quietly resting among the trees, yet their survival is becoming harder every year.

A koala can sleep up to 22 hours a day, conserving energy because its diet of eucalyptus leaves provides very little nutrition. Their lives move slowly, but the forests they call home are changing fast. Habitat loss, wildfires, droughts, and human development continue to shrink the safe spaces they depend on.

Koalas are more than a symbol of Australia. They are an important part of healthy forest ecosystems. By feeding, moving, and living among the trees, they help support the natural balance of the environments they inhabit.

Despite their gentle nature, koalas face challenges they cannot overcome alone. Roads divide their habitats. Trees disappear. Extreme weather events become more common. Every year, countless koalas are injured, displaced, or killed as a result.

Kindness can be simple. Protect native forests. Support wildlife conservation. Drive carefully in areas where wildlife may cross. Respect the natural spaces that animals need to survive.

Koalas ask for very little from the world—just a safe tree, a quiet place to rest, and a chance to live.

If we protect their homes, we protect far more than a single species. We help preserve the wild places that sustain life for us all.
