The media has a record of downplaying problems caused by illegal immigrants—from burying inconvenient crime data to rewriting the rules on welfare dependency.

Yet this leads to an unforgiving cycle: importing millions of non-assimilating residents has turned major cities into dependencies of the Democrat Party.

Conservative reformers can’t be satisfied with turning the clock back to the 2010s—or even the 1950s.

If classical education is to equip its graduates to meet the constitutional and civilizational crises of our time, it must become more like the education of the Founding generation that established our Republic. In so doing, it would become more Roman, more civic, and perhaps more authentically Christian as well.

An election watchdog group released a tool kit for instructing senior facilities on how to prevent voter fraud.

The memo says facilities have a “responsibility to preserve residents’ rights to vote and to promote participation in the democratic process.” But says, “This activity should not violate federal or state voting laws.” And that staff “cannot engage in inappropriate coercion or other violations of residents’ rights.”

FIRST ON DAILY SIGNAL—A conservative group is calling for a Senate investigation into a nonprofit hospital, the New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System, because of its federal grants, executive compensation, and reported “rural” status.

Save Our States noted in a letter Wednesday to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., that Mount Sinai has filed as a rural hospital, which could allow it to gain access to funds intended for rural communities. However, Save Our States stresses that it’s a Manhattan-based hospital system operating in the nation’s most populous city with 8 million people.
