Jennifer Homendy, Chair of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), is speaking out against section 373 of the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA. If passed by Congress, military training and operations would be allowed to fly in the crowded D.C. airspace without transmitting their location.

That's the way things were on and before Jan. 29, when 67 people died in the midair collision over the Potomac River.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is blasting proposed changes that could allow military helicopters to once again fly in the airspace of DCA, less than a year after a midair collision that killed 67 people.

“This is a significant, significant safety step back,” said Jennifer Homendy, chair of the NTSB. “This is shameful, it is shameful.”
