SHOCKING
MAGA Pedophile...yet again. What number is this?
COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina State Representative RJ May, a Republican from West Columbia, has resigned from the House of Representatives two months after his indictment on federal charges related to distributing child sexual abuse material. The resignation, announced by House Speaker Murrell Smith, followed May’s arrest on June 11, 2025, after a year-long investigation into alleged child sexual exploitation crimes.
May, who represented District 88 since 2020, was a founding member of the ultra-conservative South Carolina Freedom Caucus. He faced a 10-count federal indictment for allegedly using the social messaging app Kik under the username “joebidennnn69” to exchange 220 files depicting child sexual abuse. Prosecutors linked the account to May’s home Wi-Fi and cellphone, alleging he distributed the material over five days in spring 2024. Each charge carries a potential 5-to-20-year prison sentence.
In his resignation letter, dated August 7, May stated, “It is in the best interest of my family and constituents to resign immediately.” He is currently detained without bond in Edgefield County jail, awaiting a pretrial hearing on August 20 and a trial set for September 10. His attorney has claimed the accounts were hacked, citing political targeting, but federal prosecutors argue the evidence is substantial.
The Freedom Caucus called the resignation “long overdue,” emphasizing the need for “honorable representation” in District 88. House Majority Leader Davey Hiott, who filed an ethics complaint against May, hopes the investigation will extend to May’s consulting work with Ivory Tusk Consulting. A special election to replace May is expected before the 2026 legislative session.
The case also involves an Oklahoma man, Christian Soto, charged with receiving child sexual abuse material from May, highlighting the broader scope of the investigation.
