IT Specialist/AV Technician
Position description
Support:
Troubleshoot issues with computers, servers, mobile devices, operating system issues, etc for staff and clients
Provide security updates and notifications to staff
Setup and decommission user accounts
Infrastructure:
Run Cables (Cable and Rack Management)
Install Equipment (speakers, mixers, monitors, mounts)
Move Furniture and Equipment
Studio & Engineering Support:
Setup and moderate client Zoom sessions
Send out video streams for clients
Digital Media:
Support client’s with their events and multimedia installation
Media Management
Process unarchive requests to recall files back from LTO storage.
Load files onto Userful server for file playback on monitors throughout IMG
Preferred Skills
Ability to stay calm under pressure and be patient
Work well with others
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Experience working with and troubleshooting PC and Mac computers as well as IOS and Android mobile devices.
Experience working with Office 365, Active Directory, & Microsoft Exchange is a plus but not required.
Good communication skills (being precise and to the point)

Day 4 of our Museum Week. Today we spotlight a must-visit museum on the National Mall in Washington DC. In a world where fear, hatred, and injustice make the daily headlines worldwide, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum has never been more relevant. The Museum is dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust, one of the most horrifying times in humanity, and its lessons for us today. But it’s also a living memorial: the museum seeks to do for victims of genocide today what was never done for the Jews of Europe. To this end, there are exhibitions wholly focused on present-day genocides and mass atrocities. The newest one, “Burma’s Path to Genocide,” focuses on the Rohingya, a Muslim minority in Burma (Myanmar) who became—and remain—targets of a sustained campaign of genocide. We are honored to help shine a light on this urgent crisis still unfolding.
We worked with the museum’s Exhibitions team and Guest Curator/award-winning photojournalist Greg Constantine, who has been documenting the plight of the Rohingya for nearly 15 years. Vivid imagery and audio testimony recordings span three rooms and three “acts.” Act 1 introduces visitors to the history of the Rohingya in Burma as well as four Rohingya whose journeys we follow throughout the exhibition. Act 2, the center room, surrounds the visitor with two large screen projections and interweaving audio stories, as these four individuals bear witness to the August 2017 massacre in their village. Act 3 reveals the fate of the four and their loved ones, and shares aspects of Rohingya’s rich culture that has survived all these centuries.

2020 is almost in the rear view. It's mid-December, a cold and, possibly, snowy day here in Annapolis. A day ripe for some introspection and retrospection. Here goes.
It was 1993. Or was it 1994? Can’t remember exactly.
I was at IMG - known as Interface Video Systems then. Finishing up production on the video I posted below. The tale behind it is a good one - immortalized in thinkfilm lore. But that’s for another day.
Anyway, Tom Angell, the founder of Interface, was there that day. Fantastic and visionary man. A mentor, who also gave me space to build my company and just enough rope to hang myself. I'm forever in his debt.
Ken Maruyama was there. He ran the graphics dept. This was before Ken left for the west coast and became one of the grand panjandrums of Tinsel Town. I feel like I could take credit for Ken’s success. But I’d rather take a check.
Adam Hurst was there. He still is in fact. Adam, who runs marathons in pairs, donates blood by the gallon - enthusiastic, industrious, with a joie de vivre he spreads wherever he goes - Adam. Plus he brought me a bowl of popcorn everyday in the edit suite.
And lastly, not leastly, Jeff Weingarten was there. He was the senior editor. I've spent years studying the back of Jeff’s neck while sitting behind him in the client seat, watching while he was making magic in Edit I. I wonder what ever happened to him?
These are just a few of the many, many folks who were there then. Among the many who I have had the pleasure to work with over the years at IMG - I’m looking at you Brenda, Heather, Joyce, Dana, Roy, Connie, Nick, John, Joe, Arend, Dave, Henry, Julie, Isaiah, Amy, Kennedy, Donna, Brent, Todd, Troy, Matt, Brian, Jonathan, Steve, Dennis, Pavel, George, Ari, Matthew, Kate, Tony, Susan, Bill, etc, etc. etc. - and you too Yerman.
I've spent many days - many nights - at IMG over the years. In fact, I worked (albeit remotely) at IMG a couple of weeks ago. And I expect I will when the calendar turns 2021. Happy Holidays, IMG.
